‘Stick’: Owen Wilson led Golf Comedy Sets Release Date; Reveals First Images!!

Apple TV+ has unveiled the first-look images for Stick, an upcoming comedy series starring Owen Wilson as a professional golfer who’s already past his prime. Serving as Wilson‘s latest project following 2023’s Paint and Haunted Mansion, the actor is joined by an ensemble cast of actors with special appearances from real-life pro golfers. The forthcoming 10-episode series, created by Ford v Ferrari co-writer Jason Keller, will debut its first three episodes on the streaming giant on Wednesday, June 4.

Stick will center on Wilson’s Pryce Cahill, a former professional golfer whose once-promising career came to a halt many years ago. After a failed marriage and losing a job at a sporting goods store in Indiana, Pryce seems to have lost more than just his golfing career. With nothing to lose, he will then focus his attention on a troubled golf prodigy, the 17-year-old Santi — played by Who Invited Charlie? and Insidious: The Red Door actor Peter Dager. The official plot synopsis described Stick as a “heartfelt, feel-good comedy about a found family and their relationships set within the world of golf as it has never been shown before.”

Golf has long been explored in movies over the past decades, from Swing Away and Tommy’s Honour to Happy Gilmore and The Legend of Bagger Vance. It will be interesting to see Wilson provide his comedic spin on the genre. From horror and science fiction to thrillers and dramas, Wilson has already ventured into different genres throughout his career. However, the actor is also known for his appearances in various comedy features such as Secret Headquarters, Father Figures, Masterminds, She’s Funny That Way, The Internship, Marley & Me, and Hall Pass, making Stick his latest comedy project.

In addition to Wilson and Dager, Stick also stars To Leslie and GLOW‘s Marc Maron, A Man Called Otto‘s Mariana Treviño, Your Honor‘s Lilli Kay, 13 Going on 30‘s Judy Greer, and Santa Clarita Diet‘s Timothy Olyphant. The upcoming series will also feature special appearances from pro golfers Collin Morikawa, Keegan Bradley, Max Homa, Wyndham Clark, and more. Broadcasters Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman will also make cameo appearances in the series, alongside Matt Scharff, Brad Dalke, Garrett Clark, and golf reporter Dan Rapaport.

Wilson is also one of the show’s executive producers alongside series creator Keller, Ben Silverman, Guymon Casady, Howard T. Owens, Rodney Ferrell, Drew Buckley, Lee Eisenberg, and more. The first three episodes of Stick hit Apple TV+ on June 4, followed by new episodes Wednesdays through July 23. You can check out the first-look photos above.
