‘The Bride’: Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Frankenstein Movie Moves Release to March 6, 2026!!

Maggie Gyllenhaal’s highly anticipated horror pic The Bride has been delayed to March 2026, Deadline reports. Filling up the movie’s initial September 26 release date is Paul Thomas Anderson’s action comedy with Leonardo DiCaprio, One Battle After Another. The move comes as Warner Bros Discovery made a change to its release schedule ahead of CinemaCon this year.

The film has already created a lot of buzz thanks to its cast which includes Christian Bale as Frankenstein’s monster and Jessie Buckley as Frankenstein’s bride. The previously released official images and some behind-the-scenes images have already built anticipation in fans with Buckley and Bale‘s unusual looks and antics. As they say, good things take time, so fans will be ready with open arms for this feature when it arrives.

What to Expect From ‘The Bride!’?

The upcoming film will be a loose remake of the classic 1935 monster film The Bride of Frankenstein, based on Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel. The Bride! will see “a lonely Frankenstein travel to 1930s Chicago to seek the aide of a Dr. Euphronius in creating a companion for himself,” according to a previously revealed synopsis by Warner Bros.

The film is teased to be taking inspiration from Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, and some of the genre classics like Young Frankenstein, Frankenstein, Bonnie and Clyde and Badlands. The Bride! star John Magaro, previously told Collider, “That’s just a few. There’s probably even more stuff I could add in.” He added,

All the characters fall into all of that at some point. Less so some of us are in the Fred Astaire thing, but there are moments where we all go into each of these worlds. I mean, I’m talking about the main cast, but all of the main cast lives in all of those genres. It’s fucking wild.

Given Gyllenhaal’s directing prowess, fans should expect a twisted gothic tale that will speak to its time. Given the references Magaro has mentioned above, it can be said that the film will give something new to the genre. It has assembled a cast of compelling performers, including Penélope Cruz, Peter Sarsgaard, Annette Bening, Julianne Hough, and Jeannie Berlin. Further rounding off the cast are Jake Gyllenhaal, Linda Emond, Louis Cancelmi, Matthew Maher and many more. So we can be rest assured of some very compelling performances.

The Bride will now be released in theaters on March 6, 2026.
