Robert Pattinson could be appearing in the next installment of the Dune franchise. According to Deadline, the acclaimed star is reportedly being eyed by Legendary and Warner Bros. for a role in the upcoming Dune: Messiah, the sequel that will continue to explore the next stage in Paul Atreides’ (Timothée Chalamet) journey across the big screen. No formal offer has been made to the actor at this point, but Robert Pattinson‘s addition to the Dune franchise shouldn’t come as a surprise, considering how the performer has been working closely with Warner Bros. during the recent years of his trajectory as an artist.
Robert Pattinson recently starred in this year’s Mickey 17, the movie that brought the story written by Edward Ashton from the page to the screen. Bong Joon Ho was eager to continue his career as a filmmaker after the praise he received thanks to his work on Parasite. The result turned out to be an adaptation that didn’t meet the studio’s expectations at the box office, but received plenty of positive reviews. Robert Pattinson is also working with Warner Bros. thanks to his role as Bruce Wayne in the new The Batman movie. Matt Reeves selected the Twilight star as his Caped Crusader, with the next installment of the vigilante’s journey scheduled to premiere in theaters on October 1, 2027.
Dune: Messiah will reunite audiences with Paul Atreides after the events of Dune: Part Two. Denis Villeneuve will return to direct the continuation of Frank Herbert‘s work on the big screen, in a sequel that is also expected to feature Zendaya and Florence Pugh reprising their respective roles as Chani and Princess Irulan. The sequel is expected to explore how Paul Atreides deals with the power he gains by becoming the leader of trillions of people from all over the universe. The Dune: Prophecy television series began to toy with the idea of this prophecy allowing an Atreides to rise to power. Viewers will also likely experience the full power of Paul Atreides’ army in Dune: Messiah.
When Will ‘Dune: Messiah’ Be Released?
Dune: Messiah is expected to premiere in theaters on December 18, 2026. It’s important to point out that the date hasn’t been officially assigned to another Dune movie, but it has been stated that this is the spot on the calendar Warner Bros. and Legendary have claimed for the next film by Denis Villeneuve. Considering how Dune: Messiah is expected to go into principal photography during this summer, it might be a matter of time before Warner Bros. confirms that next year will mark the return of Paul Atreides to cinemas. In the meantime, the studio is preparing for the release of Superman and The Conjuring: The Last Rites.
A release date for Dune: Messiah hasn’t been officially confirmed by Warner Bros.
