‘Hershey’: Finn Wittrock, Alexandra Daddario to Star in Chocolate Movie From ‘Mean Girls’ Director!!

The story of America’s most famous chocolatier is coming to the big screen. Variety reports that the life story of candy tycoon Milton Hershey is being molded into a new biopic. Finn Wittrock is set to star as Hershey, while Alexandra Daddario will play his wife, Kitty. The movie will be released in 2026.

Mark Waters, the veteran helmer behind Mean Girls and Freaky Friday, is set to direct Hershey, which will center around the love story between Milton and Kitty, as well as their extensive charitable efforts. The two were married in 1898, just as Hershey was perfecting the mass production of milk chocolate, leading to the creation of the iconic Hershey bar. Unfortunately, however, their romance was cut short in 1915, when Kitty died of a nervous system disorder at age 43: Milton lived another thirty years and never remarried, carrying a photo of her with him for the rest of his life. Hershey will begin filming in Hershey’s native Pennsylvania in May. Says director Waters, “The core of Hershey, the movie, will be the special love story between Milton and Catherine Hershey, who inspired his greatest legacy — the creation of Milton Hershey School. I’m excited to have Finn Wittrock and Alexandra Daddario to portray these two visionaries, who believed in leaving the world a better place than they found it — the kind of wonderful, true story that audiences are hungry for right now.”

Who Are Finn Wittrock and Alexandra Daddario?

The Julliard-trained Wittrock made his screen debut in a 2003 episode of Cold Case. After a number of TV roles, he starred in Ryan Murphy‘s adaptation of Larry Kramer‘s play, The Normal Heart, and kicked off what would become a fruitful collaboration. Wittrock has gone on to appear in a number of Murphy‘s subsequent productions, including several seasons of American Horror Story. His film roles include The Big Short, Downtown Owl, and Don’t Move. He can next be seen in the road movie Start Without Me and the drama Westhampton. Daddario broke out as a teenager playing Annabeth Chase in the Percy Jackson films, and made a splash in the first season of HBO‘s noir anthology True Detective. She was Emmy-nominated for her role in the first season of The White Lotus, and currently stars in AMC‘s supernatural drama Mayfair Witches. She can next be seen in Adam Scott‘s directorial debut, Double Booked.

Hershey is produced by Sharon Paul, Mark Tilghman, Mary Aloe, Joshua Harris, and Will Hardy, and executive produced by Daniel Hank, Joseph Lanius, Flip & Susan Flippen, and Joanne Marlowe. It is a production of Dandelion Media, in partnership with the Hershey Entities and in association with Aloe Entertainment, Peachtree Group, and RCM3.

Hershey will begin filming next month in Pennsylvania, and will be released in 2026.
