We are still four months away from pressing play on Jason Momoa‘s (A Minecraft Movie) passion project — the epic series Chief of War. However, as it teased all of its summer releases, Apple TV+ offered a brief glimpse of the show and its epic scale. The cast also features Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent) and Tamuera Morrison (Star Wars), and the nine-episode series is set to debut on August 1.
Even though it’s not much revealing, the teaser does hint at the scale of the show, and it looks like once again Apple TV+ has spared no expense to make a new title look as good as possible. The first bit shows Momoa among a huge slate of warriors who look like they are about to enter a massive battle. Then, we get a look at the show’s impressive costume design and get the notion that Momoa‘s character Ka’iana is always ready for battle and will take on his biggest challenge of uniting the Hawaiian Islands against the threat of colonization.
Chief of War wasn’t the only title that Apple TV+ teased. The streamer pretty much hyped up every new show and movie that will debut this Summer on the catalog and made the case that viewers should spend their time “wisely” by checking out their releases. The streaming platform has been repeatedly praised for delivering A+ content to its subscribers, and it looks like they are finally hinting that they recognize their own status.
Apple TV+ Teases Highly Anticipated Returns
The streamer also gave a bit of a sneak peek into the new season of The Morning Show, one of its most successful titles. The series with Jennifer Aniston (Friends) and Reese Witherspoon (Big Little Lies) is entering Season 4 and will feature an impressive list of guest stars that include Aaron Pierre (Mufasa: The Lion King), Marion Cotillard (The Ice Tower), Jeremy Irons (The Beekeeper), Boyd Holbrook (A Complete Unknown) and William Jackson Harper (The Good Place). The teaser also provided a blink-and-you-will-miss-it look at Slow Horses Season 5, which is yet to get a release date.
Last but not least, it was time to check out the upcoming new releases that will keep all eyes turned to Apple TV+ this summer. They include Murderbot, a new sci-fi series starring Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood), the thriller with comedy elements Your Friends And Neighbors starring Jon Hamm and the Owen Wilson (Loki) golf series Stick. In the movies’ realm, the streamer will release the John Krasinski (The Office) and Natalie Portman (Thor: Love and Thunder) adventure Fountain of Youth and the Julianne Moore (The Room Next Door) and Sydney Sweeney (Euphoria) drama Echo Valley.
Apple TV+ debuts Chief of War with two episodes on August 1. You can check out the full teaser above.
