Audiences these days have truly grown to love the terrifying presence of horror in their holidays. Whether it be Valentine’s Day, Thanksgiving, the Yuletide season, or even St. Patrick’s Day, the number of holiday-themed horror movies has increased over the past few decades. Despite its growing popularity, though, it was a controversial theme back then. In fact, when Silent Night, Deadly Night hit theaters in 1984, a conservative group of parents found the feature offensive for tarnishing the image of their beloved Saint Nick. But that’s not to say the movie hasn’t had its brighter days; it has even found its rightful viewers several years later and is now deemed a cult classic. Now, with the movie confirmed to be receiving a modern reboot, Deadline has unveiled the first image of Rohan Campbell as the new Billy Chapman — a role first played by Robert Brian Wilson.
Terrifier outfit Cineverse, which had previously acquired global rights to reimagine the horror classic, has announced that the upcoming slasher has already begun production in Winnipeg, Manitoba. They also shared the first photo of Campbell as the killer protagonist, who embarks on a bloody rampage while dressed as Santa Claus. The original Silent Night, Deadly Night movie centered on a man who, after a traumatic experience as a child, grew up to be a merciless killer dressed as Santa Claus. The original film spawned sequels between 1987 and 1991, as well as a loose adaptation back in 2012. The upcoming latest iteration of Silent Night, Deadly Night is directed by Mike P. Nelson (V/H/S/85), with the original film’s producers — Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead — also serving as the upcoming reboot’s producers
Who Is Rohan Campbell?
Campbell will be joined by Happy Death Day star Ruby Modine as Pamela in Silent Night, Deadly Night, alongside newly announced cast members Mark Acheson, David Lawrence Brown, and David Tomlinson. Campbell’s involvement in the project was announced only a few days ago.
The Silent Night, Deadly Night reboot is appropriately releasing in theaters on Christmas 2025. You can check out the first photo above.
