‘Wednesday’ Season 2 Teaser Sends Jenna Ortega Back to School!! Check It Out!!

She’s baacccccckkkkkk! Everyone’s favorite storm cloud, Wednesday Addams, returns to Nevermore Academy in a brand-new teaser and new images for Wednesday Season 2. Netflix has announced that the Tim Burton series will return in two parts beginning late this summer. The first part will premiere August 6 with the second part on September 3. The teaser features a haunting rendition of “My Favorite Things,” yes the Sound of Music song as Jenna Ortega‘s Wednesday travels back to Nevermore Academy. Joining her this year is her brother Pugsley (Isaac Ordonez), who seems to be okay with donning the Nevermore bluish purple uniform where Wednesday is still in all black. We are also getting our first look at Pugsley’s own abilities with him striking a sign along the way with lightning. Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman also return for the Netflix series’ sophomore season. Everyone and everything, including (Thing!) seem to be back for Season 2.

As the teaser progresses, we’re getting our first hints at the conflict of the second season. At one point, Wednesday is tied to a chair surrounded by dolls, one of which becomes possessed and lets out a creepy giggle. Fans will also see the return of Tyler (Hunter Doohan) as well as his Hyde form. A jailbreak was previously hinted at in a sizzle reel for Netflix but as the teaser shows, that jailbreak looks to be successful, with Wednesday standing opposite Tyler’s Hyde form readying him for instruction. The teaser also includes the return of Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) as well as our first look at Steve Buscemi, and diva-fied Grandmama, played by Joanna Lumley, in a departure from the frumpy frail old kooky woman we’ve seen in every past iteration of the character. And sorry, fans, there’s no sign of the highly anticipated Billie Piper or Lady Gaga.

What Happened in ‘Wednesday’ Season 1?

In Season 1, Wednesday arrived at Nevermore Academy and was quickly swept up in a murder mystery as people continued to be torn limb from limb in the surrounding community of Jericho. Struggling against everyone wanting her to fit in, Wednesday reluctantly befriends her werewolf roommate Enid (Emma Myers). Under the watchful gaze of the headmistress Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie), Wednesday not only comes into her power (a type of psychic ability inherited from her mother) but fulfills a prophecy feared by many that want both good and bad for Nevermore. At the end of Season 1, it was made clear that Wednesday was being stalked, but with casting changes, it’s unclear if that thread will be picked up for Season 2.

Part 1 of Season 2 of Wednesday premieres August 6 on Netflix. Check out the teaser above and the first look images below.
