‘Lanterns’: Paul-Ben Victor Joins the Upcoming HBO-DCU Series!!

The upcoming Lanterns television series has received an unexpected casting addition. Paul-Ben Victor has joined the project that will bring the iconic DC heroes to life on the small screen. The Wire star will portray Antaan, an alien determined to get revenge and expose the truth regarding the enemies of his planet and his people. While it has been established that the character will have a purpose, more details regarding his motivations remain under wraps. Audiences will have to wait until Lanterns premieres on HBO to learn more about Antaan and what actually happened for him to be filled with hatred in his heart.

Lanterns will follow Hal Jordan (Kyle Chandler) and John Stewart (Aaron Pierre) as they are sent to Earth in order to uncover a dangerous conspiracy. Hal Jordan will be treated as a veteran after serving as a Green Lantern over the course of many years. He will be forced to work alongside Stewart, a rookie attempting to make a name for himself in the titular organization. There’s a reason why HBO and DC Studios are keeping secrets when it comes to the premise of the highly-anticipated show. The truth behind the conspiracy could be a pivotal reveal in the story, which is why the studios are vague regarding the characters involved.

The Lanterns television series will feature Chris Mundy working as a showrunner. When taking into account how the artist previously worked on Ozark and True Detective, it makes sense why HBO and DC Studios would want to recruit him to tackle a major mystery. Some of the directors who will take Hal Jordan and John Stewart to meet their fate include James Hawes, Stephen Williams and Geeta Vasant Patel. Hawes will direct the first episode of the show.

The Cast of ‘Lanterns’

Hal Jordan and John Stewart won’t be the only powerful characters stealing the spotlight in Lanterns. Ulrich Thomsen has been cast as Sinestro. Long-time fans of the characters will recognize the villain as one of the biggest antagonists Jordan has faced in the pages of DC Comics. Nathan Fillion will reprise his role as Guy Gardner in Lanterns. The character will be introduced in this summer’s Superman, the blockbuster directed by James Gunn that will start a new era of storytelling for both DC and Warner Bros. Time will tell how these stories will be connected thanks to Guy Gardner’s presence.

A release date for Lanterns hasn’t been set by HBO.
