Sam Raimi‘s exciting latest turn to the director’s chair is now complete, according to the Instagram of his co-producer and president of Raimi Productions, Zainab Azizi, with Raimi‘s return to horror marking a hotly anticipated revival of the genre that made the Hollywood legend so famous. In the past 15 years, the world of horror filmmaking has been sadly without Raimi‘s directing talents, with the genius being the Evil Dead franchise not seen crafting blood and guts since 2009’s Drag Me to Hell. Now, he is back, and he is also finished with production, perfectly summarized via the picture on Azizi‘s Instagram, available to view below. Accompanying the picture, Azizi wrote:
“That’s a wrap on #SENDHELP ❤️🔥 After years in the making, we wrapped principal photography on April 17. Grateful beyond words to everyone who helped bring this to life—from LA to Australia to Thailand. 🫶🏽 More soon”
Raimi has only directed two other movie projects since the aforementioned Drag Me to Hell, with 2013’s Oz the Great and Powerful and a foray into the Marvel Cinematic Universe with 2022’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. In fact, Raimi is bringing one of the MCU entry’s stars with him on this next journey into horror, namely the ever-brilliant Rachel McAdams, who is joining the likes of Dylan O’Brien, Chris Pang, and Dennis Haysbert, in a cast list thus far kept fairly quiet. Send Help‘s script has been penned by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, famed for their work on the hugely successful A Quiet Place franchise. The film is currently scheduled for a January 30, 2026, release, with a short synopsis reading, “A woman and her boss struggle to stay alive on a remote island after a plane crash.”
Sam Raimi Recently Produced an Innovative Horror Movie
Although he has now spent many years away from the directing chair when it comes to horror, it’s impossible to keep Raimi totally away from the devil’s favorite genre. In recent years, Raimi has been a producer or executive producer on several horror or thriller projects, including Lee Cronin’s Evil Dead Rise, the Bill Skarsgård-led remake, Locked, and Netflix‘s innovative Don’t Move. Directed by Adam Schindler and Brian Netto, and featuring Raimi as producer, Don’t Move follows Kelsey Asbille‘s Iris after she is kidnapped and drugged by Richard (Finn Wittrock), leaving her incapable of moving or speaking. An enticing spin on similar plots, Don’t Move might have failed to please all who watched it, but it still marked an interesting viewing experience for some of the millions who did.
Sam Raimi‘s Send Help has officially finished production.
