After a brief reprieve for grief, The Last of Us Season 2 is about to get deadly again. Ellie and Dina have left the safety of Jackson Hole, Wyoming, as the duo makes their way to Seattle to find Abby. But she and her crew are the least of their worries as more infected lurk in the shadows, and it won’t be long before Dina learns Ellie’s secret.
In the promo released for next week’s episode, we see more glimpses of the Washington Liberation Front (aka WLF) and its operations. Additionally, some of them are found dead, but they were not killed by infected, but by other survivors. Speaking of infected, Dina and Ellie encounter another horde of them underground in the subway. The trailer ends with Dina pointing a gun at Ellie, likely thinking that she will turn, hinting that this is the moment that Dina learns the truth about Ellie’s immunity.
This latest teaser also mentions the name of one of the game’s supporting characters, Isaac Dixon, played by Jeffrey Wright — Wright also voiced and motion-captured the character in The Last of Us Part II. In the game, he is the leader of the WLF and a former member of the U.S. Marine Corps. While there were a few scenes of him in the trailer so far, he is only seen facing a captured and beaten-up Seraphite prisoner.
The Changes Made in ‘The Last Of Us’ Season 2 Will Affect How Ellie Reveals Her Immunity To Dina
It’s no secret that The Last of Us series has made many small changes when adapting this popular video game to television. One of them is how Cordyceps brain infection is transmitted from the infected to humans. In the games, there are two ways one becomes infected: either through bites or through breathing spores. However, infection through spores has not happened yet in the HBO series. Based on the episode teaser, no face masks are seen, meaning Ellie’s confession to Dina will have some alterations.
In The Last of Us Part II, Dina learns about Ellie’s immunity after her face mask breaks. Dina is willing to sacrifice her safety by giving her mask to Ellie, only for the latter to reveal the truth while escaping the infected. Based on the latest trailer, the HBO series will change how this revelation unfolds, hinting at an emotional moment as Dina is ready to kill her friend, only for Ellie to likely (finally) reveal her secret.
New episodes of The Last of Us Season 2 air every Sunday on HBO and are available to stream on Max.
