‘John Wick: Chapter 5’ Gets an Update From Director Chad Stahelski!!

If there is one thing movies should have taught us by now, it is that characters only truly die when we see it happen. After watching Keanu Reeves‘s titular badass John Wick seemingly succumb to his Parisian injuries in the final moments of John Wick: Chapter 4, fans felt that they had closure on the action hero’s saga, with the blow cushioned by the pending spin-off, From the World of John Wick: Ballerina, starring Ana de Armas as Eve Macarro, as well as many other projects from within the universe. Well, it seems the hero might not be dead after all, with it revealed that John Wick 5 was in development and Reeves would be reprising his role as the Baba Yaga in the film.

So, how are they going to get out of this narrative hole? Well, it seems that veteran director Chad Stahelski has a few tricks up his sleeve, with Chapter 5 in this saga set to take a turn no one is expecting. In an interview with EmpireStahelski admitted the fifth chapter will be “really different, saying, “The saga of John Wick was pretty wrapped up. So the only way to do a 5 is to have a new story that involves John Wick. It’s not a continuation, with the High Table. John dealt with his grief.” Stahelski continued, “It will be really different, and everybody [will] see the trailer and go, ‘Holy fuck… I gotta see that.’”

John Wick Will Make a Brief Appearance in the Upcoming ‘Ballerina’

Whatever happens with John Wick, it’s safe to assume that this next feature-length adventure for the suave retired hitman won’t be with us for quite some time. Luckily, in the meantime, there’splenty of other John Wick content to keep us entertained, including a spin-off around Donnie Yen’s Caine and an exciting animated prequel feature, with Reeves reported to be voicing the titular character. However, first on the agenda is the aforementioned Ballerina, with Wick ready to make a cameo appearance alongside de Armas‘ Eve Macarro, something that made the actress understandably excited, according to her interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub. De Armas said:

It was a very special scene, that one in particular that you see in the trailer. Working with Keanu is always a joy and a huge pleasure. It’s our third film together. It was really cool to see him walking on set with the suit on. I’ll never forget that moment. Iconic. It was really amazing.”

Ballerina will premiere in theaters on May 15, which also marks the date each of the John Wick movies debuts on Peacock.
