‘M3GAN 2.0: New Image Teases the Highly Anticipated Sequel!! Check It Out!!

She’s back, and she’s ready to slay while making the bad guys pay. Today, Empire has unveiled a brand-new image of the titular robot behind M3GAN 2.0, and she’s looking as bad and fab as ever. The taller model can be seen decked out in an all-black ensemble that would give the Terminator a run for his money. Boasting some fresh upgrades, the suit is just the beginning of the exciting additions that M3GAN will be rocking when the highly-anticipated sequel dances into cinemas on June 27.

The image teases plenty of ‘tude, which is precisely the reason why so many of us fell in love with the killer doll in the first place. It was through Gerard Johnstone’s 2023 feature, M3GAN, that we were first introduced to the character who was created by Allison Williams’ Gemma as an extra set of eyes, ears, and hands to take care of her recently orphaned niece, Cady (Violet McGraw). Unfortunately, M3GAN’s love for Cady got just a tiny bit out of control, which led Gemma to shut her down permanently.

In the sequel, M3GAN is brought back to life after it’s revealed that a different robot is slaying her way to Gemma in an attempt to kill the people responsible for her creation. Putting M3GAN back into a body was the last thing that Gemma, Cady, and the rest of the characters wanted to do, but with no other obvious option, she’s their best bet. Amie Donald and Jenna Davis return as the body and voice of M3GAN, respectively, with Ivanna Sakhno stepping up to the plate to take a swing as the primary antagonist. The cast will also include Jemaine Clement, Aristotle Athari, and Timm Sharp. Teasing “the ultimate mean-girl showdown,” during her chat with Empire, Sakhno said that audiences are in for something completely new “while remaining a very campy, cunty movie.”

An Explosive Sequel

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, M3GAN 2.0 is obviously channeling its inner Terminator for the follow-up. The movie will turn things up a notch, and we can expect even better one-liners and dance sequences thanks to the script co-penned by Johnstone and Akela Cooper. Back in February, Collider’s Aidan Kelley was able to catch up with McGraw while on the red carpet for the Saturn Awards, where the young actress teased the bonkers storyline set to unleash later this year.

“I can’t really say much about it to be honest. It’s just going to have to be a really big surprise. But it’s gonna be — bigger, for sure. It’s gonna be an adventure.”

M3GAN 2.0 will arrive in cinemas on June 27.
