‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Adds ‘The Bear’ Star Liza Colón-Zayas!!

Liza Colón-Zayas has joined the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The actress who portrayed Tina Marrero in The Bear is ready to make her way to the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to the upcoming sequel. Colón-Zayas‘ role hasn’t been revealed yet. Marvel Studios and Sony remain secretive regarding the Peter Parker (Tom Holland) story, but being released after Avengers: Doomsday could change the status quo of the franchise. Spider-Man: Brand New Day is currently scheduled to swing into theaters on July 31, 2026. The movie will be launched more than four years after the last installment of the series got close to earning $2 billion at the global box office.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day will follow Peter Parker after the entire world forgot about him during the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home. No other official details have been provided regarding the plot of the upcoming sequel. What has been confirmed is that Sadie Sink has also been cast as a mystery character. Audiences might remember the talented performer from her role as Max Mayfield in Stranger Things, the popular television series about a group of teenagers fighting against monsters from another dimension. Fans continue to speculate who Sink will be portraying in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

The exclusive report from Deadline that announced Liza Colón-Zayas’ addition to the cast of Spider-Man: Brand New Day also suggests that Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are expected to return in the sequel. Zendaya played MJ, Peter Parker’s love interest, in previous installments of the franchise. MJ forgot who Peter Parker was thanks to Doctor Strange’s (Benedict Cumberbatch) spell, so it remains to be seen if the new movie will introduce a different love interest for the titular hero, or if MJ will remember who Peter was.

The Career of Liza Colón-Zayas

Liza Colón-Zayas gained plenty of popularity when she was cast as Tina Marrero for The Bear. The acclaimed drama allowed Colón-Zayas to play the independent chef who doesn’t play well with newcomers. Before that, the talented actress was seen as Dawn in The Purge: Election Year and she was featured in the pilot of Proven Innocent. Spider-Man: Brand New Day will become one of the biggest projects in Colón-Zayas‘ career so far. The sequel will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who previously worked with Marvel Studios thanks to the development of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
