‘Fallout’ Already Renewed for Season 3!!

Season 2 of the smash-hit video game adaptation Fallout is still a ways away, but Prime Video‘s ready to set the world on fire today. During its upfront presentation, Amazon announced that the series, based on the post-apocalyptic RPGs created by Interplay Entertainment and Bethesda, has already been renewed for a third season. The news isn’t particularly shocking, given that the show is one of the platform’s top three most-watched titles and Season 1 has been seen by over 100 million viewers, but it’s definitely earlier than expected to arrange another stint in the wasteland. It’s just one of two atomic bomb announcements to come from the world of Fallout, as Ella Purnell, Walton Goggins, and Aaron Moten also appeared during the upfront to announce a much earlier-than-expected December 2025 premiere for Season 2.

Fallout is described as “a story of haves and have-nots in a world where there’s almost nothing left to have.” Set 200 years after a nuclear war that has left the world uninhabitable and driven survivors into underground shelters known as vaults, the series unfolds from three different perspectives — that of Lucy, a peaceful dweller of Vault 33 who is thrust into the weird, ultraviolent, and complex wasteland in search of her kidnapped father; Maximus, a member of the Brotherhood of Steel trying to find meaning within the group and bring back an artifact sought after by the Brotherhood; and The Ghoul, a cynical, iradiated bounty hunter searching for answers related to his former life. Season 1 saw the trio’s respective journeys intertwine as they each uncovered revelations about the vault, the wasteland, and themselves. Everything culminated in a final confrontation at the Griffith Observatory, where Lucy learned the truth about her father and The Ghoul learned where he needed to go next to get answers about his family.

Season 2 will pick up in the direct aftermath of the finale. In the final moments of the episode, Lucy’s father, Hank, flees in a suit of power armor to the city of New Vegas, an iconic and deeply important location from the games, and Lucy and the Ghoul are bound and determined to track him down there. They’ll explore the Mojave wasteland together and encounter more threats, oddities, and disturbing truths about Vault-Tec and everyone involved in making the apocalypse. Considering its setting, it’ll tie in heavily to the story of Fallout: New Vegas, including addressing the potential endings players could’ve experienced in the game. In addition to the main trio of Purnell, Moten, and Goggins, and other returning cast members like Kyle MacLachlan, Moisés Arias, Frances Turner, and Leslie Uggams, this run is reloaded with more nuclear starpower in the form of Macaulay Culkin.
