In the new era of DC under James Gunn and Peter Safran’s leadership, John Cena’s Peacemaker is getting a new life with season 2. The character was originally introduced in the DC Extended Universe so it remains a mystery how the story will eventually continue but all those questions will be put to rest when the series arrives this August. After giving fans a kickass trailer, now, the official account of series on X (formerly Twitter) has unveiled some new images.
The new images brings back the whole gang and Cena is an absolute menace, in character. One image sees him having a heart to heart with Emilia (Jennifer Holland), another sees him in a car having an argument with Danielle Brooks’ Leota. Another image sees him screaming at someone in true Peacmaker style. We also see a slew of in character images of Tim Meadows, Frank Grillo, Steve Agee, among others.
What to Expect from ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2
While plot details are scarce the recent trailer of the series gave fans plenty to theorize upon with a dose of eccentricities of the titular character. Its full of our favorite characters, and we get to see Christopher Smith be his usually snarky self while we get the first look at a live-action Rick Flag Sr. (Grillo) and several cast members the upcoming Superman. So the series is going to be full of surprises and character development. Brooks, who was revealed to be daughter of Amanda Waller (Viola Davis), previously revealed that the wait for the new season will be worth it:
“It will not disappoint. I will not disappoint. It has a lot of heart in it this season, I think, and it has a great opening. James [Gunn] is so good.”
The actor also went on to confirm that the new season will feature another opening dance number. So that’s a win for the fans. The series also casts Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase aka Vigilante, Sol Rodríguez as Sasha Bordeaux, and Tim Meadows as Langston Fleury. Furthermore, we’ll get to see some of the Superman cast in the show including Isabela Merced, Nathan Fillion, and Sean Gunn as Hawkgirl, Guy Gardner aka Green Lantern, and Maxwell Lord, respectively.
Peacemaker Season 2 will drop on Max on August 21, the first season is available to stream.
