‘Chief of War’ Teaser Has Jason Momoa Battle for Hawai’i!! Check It Out!!

Jason Momoa is back at Apple TV+. The Game of Thrones star led the apocalyptic drama See as Baba Voss for three seasons, but now he’s back doing something different. The actor stars in and co-created Chief of War, a historical drama set in Hawai’i. Taking place against the beautiful backdrop of the islands of Hawai’i, the nine-episode series based on true events follows warrior Ka’iana, portrayed by Momoa, as he tries to unify the islands before Western colonization in the late 18th century. Told from an indigenous perspective, Chief of War is a passion project for creators, Momoa and Thomas Pa’a Sibbett, who both share native Hawaiian heritage. The series features a predominantly Polynesian cast, led by Momoa alongside Luciane Buchanan (The Night Agent), Temuera Morrison, Te Ao o Hinepehinga, Cliff Curtis, Kaina Makua, Moses Goods, Siua Ikale’o, Brandon Finn, James Udom, Mainei Kinimaka, Te Kohe Tuhaka, and Benjamin Hoetjes.

Apple TV+ released a teaser trailer before the show’s August 1 debut. It takes viewers deep into the culture of pre-colonial Hawai’i, following Ka’iana as chief who wants to end the infighting between the tribes and unify them. The trailer promises a lot of positive explorations of Hawai’i’s culture. From architecture to fashion, the show will dive into everything that made their culture unique. However, Ka’iana will have to achieve his destiny and purpose quickly because an external threat is coming for the people in the shape of explorers and colonizers. With them, they bring deceit, chaos, and war. Maybe Ka’iana’s expectations of ending wars will have to wait because there is an important one to be won.
