Marvel and DC will be working together for the first time in more than twenty years. A new comic book limited adventure will see Batman crossing paths with Deadpool. The crossover was confirmed by both companies via Entertainment Weekly, with the comic book hitting shelves on September 17. The last time the two biggest publishers on the market worked together for an exciting adventure was in 2003, making the new adventure featuring Batman and Deadpool much more special. Greg Capullo, an artist who previously worked on the main Batman title, drew one of the covers for this story.
The Deadpool/Batman one-shot will see Wade Wilson sent to Gotham City on a very important mission, and Bruce Wayne won’t be pleased about the fact that such an unreliable threat will be loose in his city. After years of watching these characters live their journeys in their own universes, comic book readers will get the chance to see two of the most popular comic book characters of all time going on an adventure together. More comic book crossover opportunities could be on the horizon for Marvel and DC. In the meantime, the companies will focus on the thrilling mission featuring Deadpool and Batman.
The upcoming story featuring Deadpool and Batman will be written by Zeb Wells. The writer recently worked on a controversial run of The Amazing Spider-Man, where Peter Parker had to face some of the most unconventional challenges of his career as a hero. Wells and Capullo‘s presence on the project makes it clear that Marvel and DC are sending some of their best creative minds to ensure that the crossover lives up to its potential.
Batman and Deadpool on the Big Screen
Batman and Deadpool will cross paths thanks to the upcoming comic book crossover, but the characters still have plenty of fighting to get through on the big screen. Deadpool & Wolverine took over the global box office last summer. Ryan Reynolds is excited about what the future holds for Wade Wilson, but nothing has been confirmed yet by Marvel Studios. When it comes to Gotham City’s protector, Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne in the upcoming The Batman: Part II. Matt Reeves will return to write and direct the sequel. In the meantime, fans will get to see these characters interact in the pages of a comic book thanks to the highly-anticipated crossover event.
