‘Leanne’: First Images Tease ‘The Big Bang Theory’ Creator’s New Sitcom!! Check It Out!!

Netflix is coming in hot with its latest original sitcom, as the streamer has unveiled the first batch of images for its upcoming series, Leanne. With a logline that will remind audiences of iconic shows of yesteryear such as Reba and Roseanne, the project follows its titular character, (played by comedian Leanne Morgan), after she’s forced to start life over again thanks to her husband of 33 years leaving her for another woman. The fresh start is certainly a rude awakening for the grandmother who’s well into menopause, but after she shakes off the blues and grabs life by the horns, she finds that she’s going to be more than okay — especially with the safety net of loved ones helping her out along the way.

Leanne’s (Morgan) life might be difficult, but you wouldn’t know it by the lineup of premiere images. In them, we see her cracking up and laughing through the pain alongside a host of supporting characters who will be played by the likes of Kristen Johnston (3rd Rock From the Sun), Celia Weston (Dead Man Walking), Blake Clark (Boy Meets World), Ryan Stiles (Whose Line Is It Anyway?), Graham Rogers (Struck by Lightning), and Hannah Pilkes (The Woodsman). While it’s unclear which characters these actors will be playing, it’s obvious that they all make up part of Leanne’s support system, with Johnston appearing as her closest companion.

Filling out the rest of the supporting ensemble is a lineup that includes Tim Daly (Private Practice), Blake Gibbons (General Hospital), Jayma Mays (Glee), and Annie Gonzalez (Drive-Away Dolls).

Who’s Behind ‘Leanne’?

We’ve got some terrific news for everyone out there who really loves a good long-running sitcom, as Leanne was co-created by Chuck Lorre. One of the biggest names in television (even being given the nickname the King of Sitcoms), Lorre is the mind behind such favorites as Two and a Half Men, The Big Bang Theory, Mom, Dharma & Greg, The Kominsky Method, and Cybill. Lorre’s latest project is co-created alongside its leading lady, Morgan, and Susan McMartin, the latter of whom worked alongside Lorre on Two and a Half Men and Mom. Executive producers include Lorre, McMartin, Morgan, Nick Bakay, and Judi Marmel.

As for when you can expect Leanne to grace a screen near you, all 16 episodes are set for a premiere on July 31, adding to Netflix’s ever-growing summer slate.
