‘Elden Ring’: Kit Connor in Early Talks to Star in Movie Adaptation!!

The Elden Ring movie might be closer to finding its Tarnished. Kit Connor — breakout star of Heartstopper and most recently seen in Alex Garland’s war drama Warfare — is in early talks to lead Garland’s upcoming big-screen adaptation of the critically acclaimed video game, according to Deadline. While no official offer has been made, sources say that both Garland and Connor are eager to make it happen. Scheduling remains a key factor, but insiders stress that the interest is mutual for the reunion and, if the deal closes, this would mark a significant leap for Connor, whose rising profile and popularity could bring the sprawling fantasy epic a compelling emotional anchor at its core.

Connor’s potential casting would be a major step forward in the film’s development. Best known for playing Nick Nelson in Netflix’s Heartstopper alongside fellow breakout Joe Locke — now a Marvel star — the actor has earned acclaim for his performances. His role in Warfare showed his range and maturity, and Elden Ring could offer him a chance to step fully into blockbuster territory. He’ll next appear in the Netflix adaptation of A Cuban Girl’s Guide to Tea and Tomorrow, but if negotiations go smoothly, Elden Ring could be the project that propels him to fantasy franchise stardom.

What Is ‘Elden Ring’ About?

First announced earlier this year, the Elden Ring adaptation marks one of A24’s most ambitious undertakings and biggest-budgeted films to date. The film will be written and directed by Garland, with Peter Rice producing alongside Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich of DNA Films. George R.R. Martin and Vince Gerardis — both integral to the original game’s lore — are also attached as producers. The game, which was developed by FromSoftware under the creative leadership of Hidetaka Miyazaki, launched in February 2022 to widespread acclaim and commercial success. It sold over 30 million units worldwide and continues to be a roaring success to this day. The story is set in a dark and cryptic fantasy world known as The Lands Between, and draws on Martin’s mythic worldbuilding and Miyazaki’s signature storytelling through gameplay and environment. It is a very long, dense, brutal, and unforgiving game, which should make for a fascinating movie.

With Elden Ring: Nightreign, a video game spin-off, set to launch on May 30, buzz around the franchise is only increasing — and this casting news could be the first of many in the months ahead.
