We finally know when Anne Rice‘s Immortal Universe is expanding once again. At ATX TV Festival in Austin, Texas, it was officially announced that Anne Rice’s Talamasca will be premiering later this year on AMC and AMC+. The announcement came during the panel, “Vampires, Witches, and Other Secret Societies: Inside AMC’s Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe.” There, new photos were unveiled as well as a few final casting announcements. Celine Buckens (Showtrial, The Ex-Wife) will complete the cast of series regulars, and Jason Schwartzman (Mountainhead, Pavements) will be a guest star. Buckens plays Doris, a strong-willed old soul living with a coven of witches on a houseboat (sounds like an amazing life). Schwartzman is set to guest star as Burton, who AMC calls ‘a charming, rakish vampire, leading a cloistered life in a luxurious Upper West Side penthouse.”
The new images also give fans the first look at the cast, comprising of Nicholas Denton (Dangerous Liaisons, Glitch), Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey), William Fichtner (The Dark Knight), as well as Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Nine Perfect Strangers, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow). But who are The Talamasca? Basically, they’re a secret society, comprised of men and women who are responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures around the world. We’ve previously seen them teased in The Immortal Universe, but now this show will have them in focus.
What Else Is in The Immortal Universe?
AMC began its Immortal Universe, based on the works of Anne Rice, with Interview With the Vampire, starring Sam Reid as the vampire Lestat. The universe has since expanded to adapt Rice‘s other works, with Mayfair Witches starring Alexandra Daddario. As the show heads into Season 3, AMC reveals that the next season of Mayfair Witches will take place in Salem, Massachusetts — one of the most well-known (and commercialized) American towns linked to the folklore surrounding witchcraft. They say they’ll “dive deeper into the mythology of witchcraft, introduce new ‘spellbound’ families and feature some of the historical happenings of Salem.” AMC says they’re currently only in the writer’s room for the third season, so no release window just yet. As for Interview With the Vampire, fans already knew that the next season wouldn’t release until 2026, but it’s also been announced that production for the third season will begin in Toronto in June.
You can watch past episodes of both Interview With the Vampire and Mayfair Witches now on. Check out the images for Talamasca above.
