The wait for the return of Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) and his team has just become easier. Today, Apple TV+ finally revealed the release date of Slow Horses Season 5, and even though the new episodes are still a while away from premiering, it’s great to have a date to find out what is going to happen after that that major cliffhanger in Season 4. The thriller series returns for new episodes on September 24. In order to hype it up, the streamer released some first-look images that you can check out in this article.

Along with the new the images, Apple TV+ also unveiled an official logline for the new season, and it reveals that the show will shift its structure slightly to focus on a character we haven’t paid much attention to: resident tech nerd Roddy Ho (Christopher Chung). In Season 5, Roddy will introduce his glamorous new girlfriend to Slough House, and Lamb’s instincts will instantly kick in to detect there’s something wrong in the relationship. Somehow, the woman might be connected to a series of increasingly bizarre events occurring across London.

The Season 5 images reveal Jackson Lamb with his usual bored and unkempt demeanor and once again having to deal with his superiors. We also see the members of Slough House having a bit of a get-together and Roddy in his dance club era. We’ll even get to see his home life and the nerdy stuff he buys when he’s not cracking code for the team.

Expectations Are Sky-High For ‘Slow Horses’ Season 5

Slow Horses has set a sky-high bar for itself: the series has an overall 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes — with Seasons 2 and 4 earning a perfect 100% score on the platform — and it has repeatedly been hailed as one of the best shows on television. Needless to say, Season 5 comes with major expectations from fans and critics, who at this point have learned to always expect the best from showrunner Will Smith (Veep). This time, the writer and executive producer adapts London Rules, the fifth book in the best-selling novel series by author Mick Herron. Apple TV+ has already renewed Slow Horses for Season 6.

The cast of Slow Horses Season 5 also features Kristin Scott Thomas (Tomb Raider), Jack Lowden (Dunkirk), Saskia Reeves (The Outrun), Rosalind Eleazar (Missing You), Aimee-Ffion Edwards (Peaky Blinders), Ruth Bradley (Concordia), James Callis (Battlestar Galactica), Tom Brooke (Empire of Light), and Jonathan Pryce (Wolf Hall). Season 5 will see the return of Hugo Weaving (Lord of the Rings, The Matrix) and the addition of Nick Mohammed (Ted Lasso) as a guest star.

Apple TV+ premieres Slow Horses Season 5 on September 24 with two episodes. The remaining four will roll out weekly on Wednesdays through October 22.
