Real-life husband-and-wife Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick, married for 37 years and counting, are once again teaming up for the romantic comedy movie from The King of Queens creator Michael J. Weithorn. Called The Best You Can, the upcoming feature marks the Hollywood couple’s first on-screen role together in 20 years after both Cavedweller and The Woodsman were released in theaters in 2004. According to Entertainment Weekly, the film is set to premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 7, 2025. The outlet also shared the forthcoming film’s first-look images, showing the duo hitting it off on the dance floor.

The Best You Can is written and directed by TV sitcom veteran Weithorn. It marks his second feature film after the 2010 comedy-drama A Little Help. The upcoming movie will see Bacon and Sedgwick play Stan and Cynthia, respectively. They are joined by Brittany O’Grady (It’s What’s Inside) and Judd Hirsch (The Fabelmans). In the movie, Bacon plays underachieving home security guard Stan, who has formed a bond with Sedgwick‘s Cynthia after he answers her call about an attempted robbery. That one chance encounter strikes an unlikely friendship (or perhaps more) between the two, which soon leads to a more complicated situation that may (or may not) jeopardize their respective lives. Cynthia is married to Hirsch‘s Warren, who — per EW‘s description — is swiftly succumbing to dementia. Stan, on the other hand, is trying to reestablish his relationship with his aspiring songwriter daughter Sammi (O’Grady).

The real-life couple tied the knot back in 1988 and have two children, including Smile and Charlie Says actress Sosie Bacon. Both have worked on various projects together, either as co-stars or behind-the-camera collaborators. They appeared together in films like Pyrates, Murder in the First, Cavedweller, and The Woodsman. In 2005, Bacon served as the director for the drama film Loverboy, in which he starred alongside his wife. The actress starred as the main lead Emily Stoll in the film, with their daughter starring as the younger counterpart of her character. Additionally, Sedgwick directed Bacon in the television film, Story of a Girl, in 2017 and the science fiction romantic comedy, Space Oddity, in 2022.
