‘The Institute’: New Images Teases the New Stephen King Adaption!! Check It Out!!

It’s the summer of StephenStephen King, that is, as yet another title from the legendary author’s catalog will celebrate its on-screen adaptation. Today, MGM+ has set July 13 for the premiere of The Institute, a series that will bring the writer’s 2019 novel of the same name to life. In addition to the debut news, intrigued eyes can also check out a handful of first-look images that introduce potential audiences to the thrilling world that hails from director Jack Bender (From) and writer Benjamin Cavell (Justified).

Featuring rising young star Joe Freeman in the leading role of Luke Ellis, The Institute combines aspects of horror and sci-fi for a high-octane journey through the truly bizarre. Over eight episodes, the series will chart the course of Luke, a teenage genius who is kidnapped from his home only to awaken in a strange and unfamiliar laboratory-like setting. Known to him and the other test subjects as The Institute, the building is the home of numerous children who — like Luke — were gifted with unusual powers. While Luke fights for his life inside the walls of the testing facility, an ex-cop in a nearby town (Ben Barnes) is doing his best to forget his past and move on with his life, but after his world collides with Luke’s, he’s ripped from his peace and quiet and thrown into the madness of The Institute.

Set to join Barnes and Freeman in the twisted tale is an ensemble that includes Mary-Louise Parker (Weeds), Simone Miller (Detention Adventure), Fionn Laird (Under the Banner of Heaven), Hannah Galway (The Boarding School Murders), Julian Richings (Wrong Turn), Martin Roach (Aaron Stone), and Robert Joy (The Hills Have Eyes). Bender and Cavell also executive produce alongside King, Gary Barber, Sam Sheridan, and Ed Redlich.

Starring Tom Hiddleston, Karen Gillan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and many, many more, the movie will bring the scribe’s novella of the same name to select theaters this weekend, with a wide release to follow next weekend.
