If you’re still holding out hope for a Pitch Perfect 4, you’re not alone, and neither are the stars of the franchise. After the franchise’s last installment dropped eight years ago, hopes of a fourth haven’t yet materialized. In a recent interview with CBR, franchise stars Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp revealed what’s keeping the Bellas from reuniting on screen. Spoiler alert: It’s not them.
Wilson, who hilariously brought Patricia “Fat Amy” Hobart to life across all three films, was candid when asked about the long-rumored fourth installment. Responding to Anna Kendrick’s previous comments about being the “steam engine” behind the sequel, Wilson replied candidly: “I mean, look, I think there’s one or two people that are the people who pull the trigger on it, which is not us.” Back in May 2024, Wilson revealed she was aware a fourth film was in the works, though she noted that nothing had been officially confirmed. One year later, and there is still no official confirmation. With the sort of chatter that indicates there’s a willingness on the part of the cast to make it happen, hopefully, it wouldn’t be long before official news drops about the progress of the production.
In the same CBR interview, Camp, best known as the Bellas’ control-freak-turned-ride-or-die co-leader, Aubrey, doubled down on Wilson’s comments. “Not us, unfortunately, because we would have already shot it,” she said. Wilson continued, “Yeah, if it were up to us, we would have been like, ‘Hell, yeah.’ We would have had 12 movies, like Fast and Furious. Yeah, so, but I don’t know. I feel very positive that there could be.” The Pitch Perfect trilogy raked in $587 million globally and established itself as a cornerstone of early 2010s pop culture. While the third installment failed to hit the heights of its predecessors, the franchise has fared positively with critics, and fan interest hasn’t waned. Camp called for fan involvement to help fast-track the arrival of the fourth film, adding, “If the fans want it, they got to be vocal about it, because I feel like it’s a possibility for sure.”
Rebel Wilson and Anna Camp Are Reuniting in an Upcoming Comedy
Fans of the duo, eager to see them reunited, have something to look forward to, even if it’s not with matching riff-off uniforms. The two are set to co-star in the upcoming action-comedy Bride Hard. Wilson plays a special agent forced to go full John Wick when her best friend’s wedding is attacked by mercenaries. As a bridesmaid, she struggles to not blow her cover while she tries to get the ensuing chaos under control.
Bride Hard arrives in theaters on June 20, just in time for wedding season. While we wait for a more concrete progress report on Pitch Perfect 4, we’ll take Bride Hard as a consolation. Pitch Perfect 3 is available to stream on Amazon Prime.
