‘The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox’ Teaser Previews the Terrifying the Real-Life Murder Trial Drama!! Check It Out!!

Amanda Knox has been one of the biggest sources of fascination in the true crime world, and she is getting another crack at a fictionalized interpretation of her story. Hulu has released a teaser for The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox, set to premiere on the streamer August 20. The series will reunite Grace Van Patten with Hulu after her captivating portrayal of Lucy in the unstable romantic drama, Tell Me Lies. The teaser for The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox is only 15 seconds, but it is jam-packed with harrowing visuals depicting the infamous case.

Many people think they know my story,” Van Patten narrates as the accused murderer gets pulled from a police van, “but now it’s my turn to tell it.” The trailer shows Knox’s treatment by authorities and the media circus that the case became. This depiction of the true crime story is also not the first time that Amanda Knox’s story has made it to the screen. Lifetime jumped on the idea in 2011 and put out Amanda Knox: Murder On Trial In Italy, starring Hayden Panettiere.

The story also got the documentary treatment in 2016 when Knox told her story in her own words in the aptly-titled Netflix film, Amanda Knox. The film followed the heavily documented trial and Knox’s ultimate acquittal. These are likely the same set pieces that will accompany the new Hulu series.

What Did Amanda Knox Do?

Tabloid journalism at the time made people like Casey Anthony and Amanda Knox household names, but there is still a level of mystery associated with the case. In 2007, Knox was studying abroad in Italy when her roommate, Meredith Kercher, was sexually assaulted and murdered. Italian police quickly set their sights on Knox and her Italian boyfriend, Raffaele Sollecito, as they both did not appear to show much grief during the investigation.

Knox and Sollecito were eventually charged with murder and served four years in an Italian prison, even though there was no conclusive evidence pointing to the two. Knox and Sollecito’s convictions were eventually overturned twice, with the guilt lying with Rudy Guede, whose fingerprints and DNA traces were found at the scene. Even though Knox has been conclusively proven not guilty of murder, she still remains a source of fascination because of the twists and turns in the case. The Twisted Tale of Amanda Knox will join many television series and films based on true crimes when the eight-episode series airs on August 20.
