The war isn’t over — in fact, it’s just getting started. After weeks of speculation following a finale that left viewers stunned and star Pierce Brosnan happily clueless, MobLand has officially been renewed for a second season on Paramount+. The crime saga, executive produced by Guy Ritchie, has become one of the streaming service’s biggest hits to date, with Paramount+ confirming the show has racked up more than 26 million global viewers and counting. The network didn’t just stop at numbers — it made it official: MobLand is now the #2 original series ever on Paramount+, and spent five consecutive weeks in Nielsen’s Top 10 SVOD Originals rankings. Not bad for a show built on blood feuds, British grit, and prison chess matches.
Set across the UK and the U.S., MobLand chronicles a brutal turf war between two powerful crime families. The series stars Brosnan, Tom Hardy, and Helen Mirren, with a cast stacked with talent like Paddy Considine, Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, Mandeep Dhillon, and Jasmine Jobson.
Created by Ronan Bennett (Top Boy, The Day of the Jackal) and written alongside Jez Butterworth (Ford v Ferrari, Spectre), MobLand marks Ritchie’s first TV project for Paramount+. It’s also Butterworth’s second smash-hit series with the studio following The Agency, and he’s clearly not ready to hang up his typewriter just yet.
“With more than 26 million viewers and climbing, MobLand has become a resounding triumph — driven by the creative brilliance of Guy, Jez, Ronan and David Glasser, and brought to life by the powerhouse performances of Tom, Pierce, and Helen,” said Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment. “We are elated to greenlight a second season of this global phenomenon, which has dominated both domestic and international charts and soared to #1 in the UK.”
“TV was a brand new world for me and I was reluctant to commit,” Butterworth admitted, “but Chris, David, and the teams at Paramount and 101 Studios completely changed my perspective… I’m excited to dive into the second season of MobLand.”
What Can We Expect From ‘MobLand’ Season 2?
Season 1’s finale, “The Beast in Me,” blew up everything fans thought they knew. With both Conrad (Brosnan) and Maeve (Mirren) behind bars, the criminal empire is suddenly in the hands of Hardy’s Harry and Considine’s Kevin — though their grip is anything but firm. Seraphina (Dhillon) could still betray them, Eddie (Boon) is coming undone, and Kat McAllister (Janet McTeer) is quietly playing puppet master. It’s a powder keg with a lit fuse — and everyone’s got a match, as Brosnan told ER recently.
“I honestly don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m quite happy to let it all just unfold before me. Right now, I’m just feeding the chickens.”
MobLand is now streaming on Paramount+. Season 2 is officially in the works.
