‘Irish Blood’ Trailer Sees Alicia Silverstone Investigate in a Twisty Mystery!! Check It Out!!

How much do we really know about our parents’ past? In the upcoming Acorn TV murder-mystery series Irish Blood, this information could change an entire life. The six-part series stars Alicia Silverstone (Clueless, Reptile) as a woman whose trauma is connected with her father’s abandonment when she was a kid. However, she discovers that there’s a lot more to the story — and the trailer released today hints at something dark looming in the story. The series is set to premiere on August 11.

The Irish Blood trailer reveals not only that the history of Fiona’s (Silverstone) trauma has more complicated roots, but also that now, 30 years after he left, her father has disappeared. That’s why she decides to fly to Ireland in order to closely follow the investigation of his disappearance — as well as do a bit of investigating herself. The first bit of shocking news she gets is that the missing father lived his entire life in Ireland without ever mentioning a daughter to friends. It’s probably only downhill from there.

Despite the dark secrets and twists, the Irish Blood trailer also suggests that Fiona will be a fun character to watch, since she seems to be able to see humor in dire situations. Just from the get-go, she already has a ton of things to figure out: the truth about her mother, why her father would send her a letter after 30 years, what the members of her unknown family might know, and why she feels the drive to reconnect with her estranged father.

Who Else Is In ‘Irish Blood’?

The new series is directed by Molly McGlynn (Bless This Mess), who executive produces the series along with Silverstone. The cast also features Jason O’Mara (The Good Wife), Wendy Crewson (We Were Liars), Dearbhla Molloy (Women on the Verge), Simone Kirby (His Dark Materials), Ruth Codd (The Fall of the House of Usher), and Leonardo Taiwo (The Wheel of Time).

Irish Blood is another promising addition to the Acorn TV catalog, which specializes in British and international content. The streaming platform is perfect for fans of murder-mystery stories, thrillers, and crime dramas in general. The library includes titles like My Life Is Murder, starring Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess); Deadwater Fell, with David Tennant (Doctor Who); Art Detectives, with Stephen Moyer (True Blood); and one of the most irresistible titles: all 24 seasons of Midsomer Murders.

Acorn TV debuts Irish Blood with two episodes on August 11. The remaining four episodes will roll out weekly on Mondays. You can check out the trailer below.
