‘Vladimir’: Leo Woodall Joins Rachel Weisz in New Netflix Series!!

Netflix has found its Vladimir. One Day breakout Leo Woodall will star opposite Rachel Weisz in the streamer’s upcoming limited series Vladimir, based on the acclaimed novel by Julia May Jonas. The 8-episode psychological drama — which is going to mix dark humor with seduction and suspense, how sexy — is being produced by 20th Television and is set to begin filming later this year.

Woodall, who’s probably best known for his standout turn in The White Lotus Season 2 and as Roxster in Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, will play the titular role. He joins Weisz, who is also executive producing the series through a team that includes creator Julia May Jonas, Merman’s Sharon Horgan, and Small Dog Picture Company’s Jason Winer.

Described by Netflix as “full of sexy secrets, dark humor and complex characters,Vladimir follows a woman (Weisz) whose life begins to unravel just as she becomes infatuated with a captivating new colleague (Woodall). That obsession spirals into fantasy — and possibly something much darker.

Netflix’s VP of comedy Tracey Pakosta called the project “a powerhouse collaboration of talented women,” adding that the combination of Jonas’s writing, Kate Robin’s showrunning, and Weisz’s star power will create something “layered, darkly comedic, and morally complex.”

For Weisz, Vladimir continues a run of ambitious television projects following her acclaimed dual role in Dead Ringers and her MCU debut in Black Widow. The Oscar winner has consistently chosen roles that explore the messiness of desire, control, and identity which makes her a perfect match for Vladimir’s twisted tale of obsession.

Jonas, adapting her own novel for the screen, brings a playwright’s sense of intimacy and tension to the series. Her voice is already being heralded as one to watch. “I fell in love with Julia’s writing from the very first paragraph,” said Horgan. “Getting to partner with Netflix and have Rachel attached is a thrill and testament to the brilliance of the scripts.

What Has Leo Woodall Been In?

Woodall’s star has been steadily rising. After his breakout performance in The White Lotus, he earned rave reviews for his lead role in Netflix’s romantic drama One Day, and he’s already lined up for James Vanderbilt’s Nuremberg. Vladimir will mark his second major Netflix adaptation — and arguably his most daring role to date. He’s also appeared in Prime Target, Vampire Academy and, of course, Bridget Jones.
