‘Invasion’ Season 3 Gets a Chilling First Teaser!! Check It Out!!

“This is not a warning. This is war.” Those are the ominous words that loom over the chilling first teaser for the much-anticipated third season of Apple TV+‘s sci-fi original Invasion and set the tone for what’s to come. After two seasons of following the differing perspectives of people around the world as aliens arrive on Earth, Simon Kinberg and David Weil‘s series finally has its characters together in a united front for what will be the most high-stakes run of episodes yet, with the fate of the planet hanging in the balance. In addition to previewing the heightened danger everyone will be facing amid a full-scale conflict, the footage also revealed that the show would be returning to screens on August 22.

Everything has been building up to Invasion Season 3, which will see the diverse ensemble viewers have been following since 2021 brought together for a critical mission to infiltrate the alien mothership. Humanity’s time is quickly running out as the apex aliens have emerged and are spreading their tendrils across the planet. The new development has all the alarms sounding in the teaser, requiring everyone to pool their skills together quickly before it’s too late to stop the incoming disaster. With their varying backgrounds and expertise, new relationships will be forged, and old bonds will be put to the test as the pressure of their demise looms over everyone.

Season 2 ended with a hefty cliffhanger for its characters, particularly Trevante and Caspar. After venturing into the portal to reach the alien hive mind, Trevante is surprised to find his friend has entered as well to join the fight. However, in the final moments, Caspar appears a bit more otherworldly than usual and helps lead the Navy SEAL forward into a situation where he may be outmatched. Coupled with what happened to Mitsuki in the finale, it left some lingering questions that Season 3 will look to answer right away as it takes the series into its next stage. In Kinberg‘s eyes, the series is firmly in the second act of its overarching alien invasion narrative, with the goal, as he reiterated in an interview with Collider’s Chase Hutchinson in 2023, to deliver a four-season arc:

“Yeah. And it no longer really conforms to movie storytelling. But storytelling does have a first act, then the second act is twice as long as the first act, then the third act is the length of the first act again. So it does naturally fall into a four-quadrant storytelling pattern. But separate from that, in the way that I have imagined the show and the way that it continues to evolve, it stays a four-season arc.”

Who Will Appear Throughout ‘Invasion’ Season 3?

Invasion Season 3 will see the return of the show’s key players as part of its cast of regulars, including Golshifteh Farahani, Shioli Kutsuna, Shamier Anderson, India Brown, Shane Zaza, and Enver Gjokaj. They’ll be joined by a fresh face in Erika Alexander, who previously starred on television in the classic sitcom Living Single and has appeared on the big screen in films like Get Out and American Fiction. The series has garnered plenty of praise over two seasons so far for constantly upping the ante for the survivors, resulting in an improved 67% score from critics on Rotten Tomatoes for Season 2. Its return will add to a big year for Apple TV+’s sci-fi slate, which has already seen the debut of Severance Season 2 and the sophomore finale of Silo, and will welcome back Foundation for its third season next week.
