Grantchester is currently in the middle of airing its 10th season, but the fate of the hit mystery series has already been decided. Masterpiece on PBS has officially announced that Grantchester has been canceled, and will end after its 11th season. Series writer, creator, and executive producer Daisy Coulam gave a statement in response to the news, thanking fans who have been part of the show through all 10 seasons thus far, and expressing how much she and the team are going to miss everyone when things officially wrap up. Robson Green is expected to return as Geordi Keating in the final season of Grantchester, with Rishi Nair, Al Weaver, Tessa Peake-Jones, Kacey Ainsworth, Oliver Dimsdale, Nick Brimble, Bradley Hall, and Melissa Johns all reprising their respective roles as well.
Grantchester first premiered on Masterpiece Mystery in 2015 and was an instant hit. James Norton features in the first four seasons of the mystery show as vicar Sidney Chambers, and he then passed on the role of the village’s new vicar to Tom Brittney, who starred as Will Davenport between Seasons 4 and 9. Rishi Nair arrived in Grantchester in Season 9 as the latest crime-solving vicar, and he will close out the show in its 11th season. Grantchester has found impressive viewership through its first 10 seasons and cultivated a large fan base. The first four episodes of Grantchester Season 10 are out now, with the final four releasing weekly until the season finale airs on August 3. It’s unclear at this time when Grantchester will be released, but it’s likely going to be sometime next year.
