In just a little over one month, one of Prime Video’s most creative and forward-thinking series will return for its final hurrah. Today, the streamer has announced that the end is in sight for Upload, with the fourth and final season set to premiere on the streamer on August 25. In addition to the release news, we’re also thrilled to give readers a sneak peek at the story yet to come through a set of first-look images that better depict the comedy and drama set to transpire over the four-part series finale. Since 2020, fans have tuned in to stream the latest series from Greg Daniels (The Office) and step into a not-so-distant future in which humans have the ability to “upload” themselves into a virtual afterlife. Starring Robbie Amell as Nathan Brown, the series follows his post-death struggles of living in the virtual world.
Just as it has over the last three seasons, Upload’s final foray will continue to shine a light on the realities of the world that we live in — albeit with a heavy hand of humor and futuristic edge. As per the logline:
“In the four-part series finale event, sentient AI rapidly turns evil, threatening to wipe out Lakeview (and the world!). On top of greedy executives, lingering mysteries, plus heartbreak in VR and IRL, our characters are tested like never before. The only way they can get through it all and save humanity from deletion is by teaming up one last time.”

A favorite amongst audiences and critics alike, Upload has managed to knock it out of the park from one season into the next. On Rotten Tomatoes, the series holds an 89% critics’ approval rating, with audiences not far behind, stamping it with 79%. Like much of the technology that makes the inner workings of the universe of Upload work, the writers and creative team have kept things incredibly fresh, adding twisty plot turns to bring viewers back episode after episode.
Right now, Prime Video is living a summer of high viewership numbers thanks to the release of breakout hits including the Jensen Ackles-led crime drama, Countdown, Julie Plec’s return to television with We Were Liars, and the star-studded The Better Sister, which sees Jessica Biel and Elizabeth Banks in leading roles. Now, with the final season of Upload poised for a return at the end of the season, the streamer is already promising that things will go out with a bang.
