Christopher Nolan‘s follow-up to his Oscar-winning film, Oppenheimer, is an adaptation of Homer‘s epic poem, The Odyssey. And now fans can get ready to get their tickets! A…full year early. Nolan’s film is set to release tickets starting on July 17, 2025. The film is set to release on July 17 of 2026. So if you’re planning on using those AMC stubs tickets, you will have one reservation set on your account for an entire year so be prepared to set a countdown until we’re all sat in the IMAX.
Variety wrote about the news, stating that Universal and IMAX have not yet commented on the news. But the ticket sale does come after the first teaser trailer for The Odyssey was released in theaters as part of Jurassic World Rebirth‘s theatrical run. Many took to theaters to see the film not because of the movie itself but because of Nolan‘s trailer. It has yet to be released publicly as of this writing. So the buzz for The Odyssey is already there and selling tickets this far out is an interesting choice.
More often than not, tickets go on sale for a movie’s release a few months out at most. In comparison, Supermantickets went on sale on June 11 of this year, a month before the film’s release. Fantastic Four: First Steps had their tickets go on sale on June 4, a little over a month before its July 25 release date. So even the blockbuster films of this year are not set to be released until closer to their actual release date.
Christopher Nolan Films Do Sell Out Though
The year window is telling audiences one of two things: That the studio is confident in what Nolan is bringing us and also that they know his movies sell, especially in IMAX. The re-release of Interstellar this year was so popular that they had to add screenings. A similar phenomenon happened with Oppenheimer where the buzz allowed a re-release in IMAX theaters. Often, Nolan‘s films are shown again and again on IMAX screens and they are very hard to get tickets to. If you didn’t get tickets early to Oppenheimer, you were not seeing it in theaters that opening weekend. All this to say that if you want to be one of the first audiences to see The Odyssey, you better be logged in and ready when tickets go on sale.
Get your tickets to The Odyssey when they go on sale on July 17, 2025.
