‘The Punisher’: First BTS Images from Frank Castle from Disney+ Spin-Off Revealed!! Check It Out!!

Jon Bernthal lit the world on fire earlier this year by returning as Frank Castle/The Punisher in Daredevil: Born Again, and he was even rewarded with a spin-off Spotlight series coming to Disney+ next year. Just Jared has posted the first official photos from Bernthal’s Punisher spin-off, which can be found below. The first photos show Bernthal portraying a more rugged Frank Castle, similar to the one we see at the beginning of The Punisher Netflix series and when Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) first finds him in Daredevil: Born Again. Marvel has displayed a pattern of giving Frank a beard at the start of a series only to shave it at the show’s end, but fans remain hopeful this time around that the scruff is here to stay.

Details about Bernthal’s Punisher special are being kept under wraps for now, but we know that Bernthal himself is making his feature writing debut on the show, finally giving him a chance to tell Frank’s story on a personal level. Bernthal is also reuniting with director Reinaldo Marcus Green on the project — the two previously worked together on We Own This City. Casting is being kept tight-lipped for now, but with Daredevil: Born Again expanding its roster in the form of Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, there’s no telling who Frank could call on for help. Daredevil: Born Again recently wrapped production on Season 2, and although not confirmed, Bernthal is expected to reprise his role in Season 2. Also returning in Season 2 are Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page, Wilson Bethel as Benjamin Poindexter, and Vincent D’Onofrio as Wilson Fisk.

Jon Bernthal’s Punisher Is Coming to the Big Screen

One of the biggest MCU announcements to come from the last few weeks was the news that Jon Bernthal would reprise his role as The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which is coming to theaters on July 31, 2026. Bernthal joins his The Bear co-star Liza Colón-Zayas in the film, and the duo will star alongside Tom Holland, Sadie Sink, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon. The size of Bernthal’s role in Spider-Man 4 remains unclear, but now that the cat is out of the bag, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Charlie Cox follow soon after.
