Kevin Feige Teases Possibility of Human Torch/Spider-Man Team-Up in the MCU!!

Ahead of the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is already looking forward to what can be done with these characters elsewhere in the MCU. The Fantastic Four: First Steps, the MCU’s imminent introduction of Marvel’s first family, once again features Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal), Sue Storm/The Invisible Woman (Vanessa Kirby), Ben Grimm/The Thing (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) as well as Johnny Storm/The Human Torch (Joseph Quinn). Now the head of Marvel, Kevin Feige, teases what’s possible with the F4 now officially a part of the MCU. Collider‘s Steve Weintraub recently sat down with Feige in a press roundtable for the film. One of the dynamics touched on in the comics was Johnny Storm and Peter Parker. Now with both characters in the MCU (coincidentally, both with a long non-Marvel on-screen journey), Feige is excited about the possibility of bringing that dynamic to life.

“Whenever we cast it is with that blue sky dream in mind of one day being able to do that and that’s a great example. That’s one of the key relationships in Marvel Comics is Johnny Storm and Peter Parker and we’ve never been able to come close to it before. And now it is in the realm of possibility.”

Who Else Has Played Spider-Man and Johnny Storm?

Peter Parker is currently played by Tom Holland in the MCU. Quinn is the Johnny Storm opposite Holland‘s Peter Parker, but who else has gotten the chance to web ’em up and “Flame On!”? Millennials will remember Tobey Maguire‘s Spider-Man best from their childhood, the Sam Raimi iteration of Peter Parker spanning three movies. The character was adapted for screen yet again, a few years later, this time played by Andrew Garfield, who got two movies of his own.

As for Johnny Storm, a face familiar to the MCU played the character in the 2005 film: Chris Evans. He portrayed Johnny in both Fantastic Four and its sequel, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer. Evans would go on to portray Steve Rogers/Captain America in the MCU. Another MCU alum, Michael B. Jordan, portrayed The Human Torch in the 2015 adaptation. Jordan would later go on to portray Erik Killmonger in Black Panther. So, while Feige‘s words are not explicit confirmation that we’ll get to see The Human Torch and Spider-Man team-up in a future Marvel project, it’s definitely possible, and wanted.
