Following the success of Superman, fans are eager to see who else will enter the DCU. While many names have already been confirmed, there are plenty of characters in this superhero franchise that are under speculation. One notable team is Teen Titans, which has found success over the years as a children’s show program. But as the DC Studios prepares to expand its roster, James Gunn has some unfortunate news if you were hoping to see this group on the big screen anytime soon.
Over on Threads, Gunn responded to a fan who wanted to audition for the role of Beast Boy in the DCU. The superhero filmmaker gave a direct response, saying that they’re not casting anyone for the role. This is the second time Gunn has addressed casting rumors for DC‘s Teen Titans project, as the filmmaker debunked claims that casting would begin sometime in the fall.
Just because we’re not seeing Beast Boy or any of the Titans in the DCU yet doesn’t mean this superhero adaptation isn’t happening. Back in February, Variety reported that the script was currently in development, and it’s being written by Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow‘s Ana Nogueira. Additionally, it was also teased by Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca from Warner Bros. Motion Picture Group that a Teen Titans live-action project is in development, but no official announcement has been made.
Who Are The Teen Titans In DC?
The Teen Titans are a superhero team consisting of teenagers. Their main members are Robin/Nightwing, Beast Boy, Cyborg, Raven, and Starfire, but the comics and other adaptations would include other heroes like Wally West’s Flash. This young superhero group has appeared in various forms of media, but is mainly known from the TV shows Teen Titans and Teen Titans Go! Additionally, Teen Titans also received a live-action series called Titans, which starred Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson/Robin, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, and Ryan Potter as Beast Boy. Meanwhile, Cyborg appeared in the spin-off series, Doom Patrol, played by Joivan Wade, as well as the Justice League, played by Ray Fisher.
At the moment, the DCU‘s untitled Teen Titans project doesn’t have a place in Chapter One: God and Monsters, as not only was there no predicted release date announced, but it’s currently in its early stages of development. But once the script is ready and this new DC universe continues to find success, the casting choice for this superhero team would be based on whether they can do the job, not their acting credits.
Superman is now showing in theaters.
