With just a few days to go before fans get the Season 4 finale of Resident Alien, USA Network has revealed the fate of the acclaimed sci-fi show. Created by Chris Sheridan, the series has been airing since January 27, 2021, on Syfy and is an adaptation of Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse’s comic book of the same title. Similar to the most recent and final installment, the debut season consisted of ten episodes, which concluded on March 31, 2021, the same month it was renewed.

Sadly, that won’t be happening to the show’s fourth season, as no renewal is imminent. Per Variety, Resident Alien has been cancelled at USA Network, with only three episodes to go before the finale. You may recall that the mystery series moved to the network after three seasons, starting with Season 4, which premiered on June 6, 2025. The season is also scheduled to end next month as USA Network will air the final three episodes on their originally slated dates: July 25, August 1, and August 8 (the finale), respectively.

Alan Tudyk stars in Resident Alien as an extra-terrestrial who has crash-landed on our planet with a mission to wipe out mankind. But after stealing a small-town physician’s identity, he starts to develop an affinity for Earthlings. The cast also includes Sara Tomko, Corey Reynolds, Alice Wetterlund, Levi Fiehler, Elizabeth Bowen, Judah Preh, and Meredith Garretson.

‘Resident Alien’ Showrunner Promises A Satisfying Series Finale

With Resident Alien getting cancelled, creator and showrunner Sheridan remains proud of his creation, particularly Season 4, which he hinted would wrap up some storylines. He also expressed anticipation for fans to see the series finale, promising that it would give the show “a very satisfying ending while also leaving the door cracked open for any future this world may have.” On top of that, the series boss admitted to knowing that Resident Alien would come to an end with its current season, as he told TV Insider:

“I knew going into it that this was likely going to be our final season. Creatively, that was exciting because I knew we could spend the time wrapping up some storylines and driving toward an ending. I’m so proud of how good Season 4 is and especially proud that we were able to finish as strongly as we did, with a finale that is probably my favorite episode of the series.”

Resident Alien airs Fridays on USA Network, with new episodes available to stream on Peacock a week later.
