‘Spartacus: House of Ashur’ Trailer Takes Us Back into the Arena!! Check It Out!!

We didn’t even know we needed this, but as soon as it was announced, we started counting down the days for Spartacus: House of Ashur. The new series will bring back all the elements that made the original 2010 Spartacus series a hit, albeit in a slightly alternate universe in which famous traitor Ashur (Nick Tarabay) survived his execution. The series premieres this fall, and today at SDCC, attendees finally had the chance to check out the full trailer for the upcoming series.

The trailer for Spartacus: House of Ashur features all we expect to see when the series premieres. Tensions rising in the heat of Rome, blood getting spattered here and there, alliances getting formed and dismantled, gladiators with rocking bodies and, of course, a bit of sex for good measure. In this segment of the franchise, Ashur not only was not killed in the middle of the slave rebellion, but he was also gifted with the ludus from Batiatus (John Hannah) and got to train and command his own warriors.

As previously revealed, we shouldn’t expect to see many familiar faces in Spartacus: House of Ashur, since it seeks to introduce a slate of new characters to the franchise and, except for Ashur, everyone who died will stay that way — including the title character, as much as Liam McIntyre would like to return for more episodes. Instead, we will be introduced to a new fighting team that includes Achillia (Tenika Davis), the first female gladiator.

Who Is in the Cast of ‘Spartacus: House of Ashur’?

Aside from Tarabay and Davis, the cast of Spartacus: House of Ashur also features India Shaw-Smith (The Magicians), Claudia Black (Ahsoka), Andrew McFarlane (The Newsreader), Jordi Webber (Home and Away), Dan Hamill (Love Child), Jamaica Vaughn (800 Words), Ivana Baquero (A Widow’s Game), Evander Brown (Shortland Street), and Graham McTavish (House of the Dragon). Once again, the series is helmed by Steven S. DeKnight, who created the original series and returns as showrunner.

In addition to all these characters, DeKnight teased one important return that will also be recast. One of the most famous characters in European history, Julius Caesar, will also be a part of Spartacus: House of Ashur. However, the Spartacus team couldn’t match the filming schedule with Todd Lasance‘s (NCIS: Sydney), which meant that they had to recast the major role. The Roman general will now be played by Jackson Gallagher (Playing For Keeps).

Spartacus: House of Ashur is set to premiere this fall. You can check out the trailer above.
