Anne Rice‘s Immortal Universe is set to expand again with the premiere of Talamasca. Ahead of the October 26 premiere, the series got a trailer at San Diego Comic-Con. The series joins Interview With the Vampire and Mayfair Witches on AMC and AMC+. Nicholas Denton (Dangerous Liaisons, Glitch), Elizabeth McGovern (Downton Abbey), William Fichtner (The Dark Knight), as well as Maisie Richardson-Sellers (Nine Perfect Strangers, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), Jason Schwartzman (Mountainhead, Pavements), and Celine Buckens (Showtrial, The Ex-Wife) star in the upcoming supernatural series. The Talamasca, as Denton‘s Guy Anatole learns, is a secret society that observes the world of the supernatural. Guy has now been recruited for an undisclosed ability. The official logline for Talamasca: The Secret Order will “focus on the men and women responsible for tracking and containing the witches, vampires, and other creatures scattered around the globe.”
The trailer takes Guy on a heart-pounding journey with McGovern‘s Helen narrating exactly what the Talamasca do. As the trailer progresses, we see that observing the supernatural includes vampires, of which Guy is given a file of what seems to be vampire bites, witches, as the scenes change to a coven meeting where the witches seem to be casting some kind of spell, and demons where mysterious figures walk the streets. The key to Guy’s success is to observe and stay out of sight, but as the trailer progresses, it appears he becomes entangled with someone who warns him that the Talamasca cannot be trusted. Sure, they try to keep the order, observe the supernatural world, and are “always watching” as Helen warns, but how is it exactly that they execute that order? Could that danger, the price they’re willing to pay outweigh be something that Guy is not willing to pay? Or will Guy come into his own ability, that he seems so desperate to get away from, and join them?
What’s Next for Anne Rice’s Universe?
Elsewhere in the Immortal Universe, season 3 of Interview With the Vampire has begun filming. The plot is expected to follow the book, where Lestat (Sam Reid) becomes a rockstar. Production officially began on the series just last month, with confirmation coming alongside a Les Paul, an amp, and a clapboard. Mayfair Witches, although not debuting any new news at San Diego Comic-Con, is said to delve into more witchy history, taking fans to Salem, Massachusetts, the most witch-associated place in the United States.
Talamasca: The Secret Order premieres October 26th.
