‘Frankenstein’: New Look of Jacob Elordi’s Monstrous Creature Revealed!! Check It Out!!

They could never make us afraid of you, Jacob Elordi, and they certainly aren’t doing that today with the arrival of the first-look image from Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. Known for perfecting ghastly creatures through previous projects like Pan’s Labyrinth and The Shape of Water, the monster maestro’s latest scare-fest looks like it won’t quite fully ditch the chiseled good looks of its leading man. On the other hand, they could make us afraid of Mia Goth, and that they are in her very own solo snapshot that showcases her as Elizabeth, a powerful Victorian woman who is engaged to the younger brother of Oscar Isaac’s Victor Frankenstein.

Vanity Fair has an exclusive on the debut shots that showcase Elordi as Frankenstein’s monster and Goth as Elizabeth. While the former is known for being a character with a grotesque figure, bolted neck, and green skin, our first impression isn’t giving “get away!” but is rather intrigued to see more. Shrouded in secrecy, the monster is covered by a bulky fur coat and a hood. Underneath, his green skin shines through bandages and — to be honest — it’s all kind of giving some Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles vibes. Meanwhile, Goth’s Elizabeth is swimming in shades of blue. A blue dress, blue headpiece, blue necklace and blue fan adorn the meticulously put-together woman who you’d absolutely not want to be on the bad side of.

A few months back, the debut trailer for the film dropped, featuring an incredibly bent-out-of-shape Isaac as the mad doctor behind the zombie-like creation. Following his ramblings, the teaser traces his thought and scientific process in bringing the dead back to life. We saw plenty of close-ups of Isaac, a quick snippet of Goth, and plenty of background, but what we didn’t get was a very clear shot of Elordi’s monster aside from an action-packed sequence that sees the creature going on a killing spree in the desperate search for his creator. With today’s fresh set of images, we’re finally beginning to see del Toro’s vision of the timeless character truly take form.

‘Frankenstein’ Won’t Be a Typical Horror Movie

Although del Toro may be known for his monster-centered productions, the heart of each of his projects beats with humanity. The same can be said for Frankenstein, as the director previously teased:

“Somebody asked me the other day: Does it have really scary scenes? For the first time, I considered that. It’s an emotional story for me. It’s as personal as anything. I’m asking a question about being a father, being a son… I’m not doing a horror movie — ever. I’m not trying to do that.”
