‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’: New Video Teases Tom Holland’s New Suit as Filming Begins!! Check It Out!!

The wait is over. Spider-Man: Brand New Day has officially begun filming — and in true Marvel fashion, fans already have something to obsess over. To celebrate Spider-Man Day, Sony Pictures dropped a surprise teaser for the film, giving fans a first look at Tom Holland’s new costume in his fourth solo Marvel Cinematic Universe outing. It’s sleek, a bit darker, and has subtle design tweaks that hint at Peter Parker’s next chapter as a street-level hero operating without Avengers backup.

Filming is currently underway in Glasgow, which is standing in for New York, and if the first few hours are any indication, the action is going to be big. On-set photos quickly surfaced online showing an armored truck emblazoned with a familiar red demon logo — one that game fans immediately recognized as the mark of the Inner Demons, the deadly gang from Spider-Man on PS4, led by Mister Negative.

While Marvel has yet to officially confirm the film’s villain, the presence of that logo — and its clear nod to the Insomniac games — has sent the fandom into overdrive. In the comics, Mister Negative (a.k.a. Martin Li) is a morally complex villain who uses Darkforce energy to control minds and dish out devastating attacks. He’s also known for engineering the Devil’s Breath bioweapon, which played a central role in the Spider-Man video game’s most emotional moments.

But don’t expect this to be a one-villain affair. Early reports and set leaks suggest that Brand New Day will feature a mix of street-level threats and bigger, more mysterious dangers. Some behind-the-scenes glimpses point to D-list rogues popping up — a potential nod to the “Peter on his own” tone teased by the ending of No Way Home.

Who’s Involved in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’?

Directed by Shang-Chi filmmaker Destin Daniel Cretton, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is the second entry in Phase 6 of the MCU following Fantastic Four: First Steps. Holland returns alongside Zendaya and Jacob Batalon, while Stranger Things star Sadie Sink is joining the franchise in an undisclosed role. Also appearing is Jon Bernthal, reprising his role as Frank Castle/The Punisher after reentering the MCU through Daredevil: Born Again.

Sony’s teaser — which uses Michael Giacchino’s iconic score from the original Homecoming trilogy — keeps plot details tightly under wraps. But the tone is unmistakable: this is a grittier, lonelier Peter. A Peter who’s lost everything. And a Peter about to face something darker than anything he’s fought before.

Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
