‘Sweet Revenge’ Trailer Sees the Return of Jason Voorhees in a New Short Film!! Check It Out!!

Less than two months following the epic announcement of Jason Voorhees’ return to our screens, we have a first look at the terror to come courtesy of the newly formed Jason Universe. You may recall that the infamous, horrific character was last seen in the 2009 Friday the 13th reboot, and over a decade later, in June 2025, his return was teased. Jason will next be seen in the upcoming short film, Sweet Revenge, which is a tie-in to the upcoming Friday the 13th prequel series, Crystal Lake, and has dropped a first trailer alongside a summer release date.

Sweet Revenge will premiere on August 13, 2025, and as teased by the trailer below, fans should get ready for 13 minutes of blood-soaked fun. An excited group can be seen arriving at a holiday cabin close to the iconic Crystal Lake in the clip, but they have no idea the kind of troubled past that surrounds the property. As a character rows on the lake, a glimpse of Jason is revealed when he pulls her into the water. He is also seen holding his usual machete, which, of course, he uses to stab another character towards the end of the teaser. Check it out below!

Where Was Jason Voorhees Last Seen?

Sweet Revenge is set to debut on the Jason Universe YouTube channel as part of the 45th-anniversary celebration of the acclaimed Friday the 13th franchise. It is directed by Mike P. Nelson, popular for 2021’s Wrong Turn and 2023’s V/H/S/85. In anticipation of the vignette, it wouldn’t hurt for fans to revisit the 2009 slasher pic that last showed Jason. Directed by Marcus Nispel, the Friday the 13th reboot is the twelfth installment in the franchise, following the high-grossing Freddy vs. Jason.

Starring Derek Mears as Jason, the chapter followed Clay Miller as he searched for his missing sister, Whitney, who was captured by Jason while camping in the woods at the cursed Crystal Lake. Other stars featured in Friday the 13th were Jared Padalecki, Danielle Panabaker, Aaron Yoo, Amanda Righetti, and Travis Van Winkle. Also, the film was written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, from a story by Shannon, Swift, and Mark Wheaton.

Expect Jason’s return in Sweet Revenge this month.
