‘Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions’ Adds Hugh Laurie, Riz Ahmed & More!!

As the world gears up to watch the new — and already highly anticipated — Harry Potter TV series, Pottermore took the opportunity to announce the cast of yet another adaptation of the novel series written by J.K. Rowling. Titled Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, the project brought to life by Pottermore Publishing and Audible rounds up a high-profile cast in order to bring the story to life in audio format. The new Audible editions start rolling out this November.

The new version differs from traditional audiobook readings because it features a full cast of 200+ voice actors, while the common practice is to have one person reading the full content. Pottermore Publishing spared no expense when selecting the main cast members for the project: Hugh Laurie (House) will play Albus Dumbledore, Riz Ahmed (Sound of Metal) will voice Severus Snape, and Michelle Gomez (Doctor Who) will embody fan favorite Professor McGonagall. Succession‘s Matthew Macfadyen will be the voice of evil as Lord Voldemort. Cush Jumbo (The Good Fight) will be the narrator of the whole novel series.

In an official statement, Chief Content Officer at Audible Rachel Ghiazza celebrated the new Harry Potter adaptation and teased that the project will allow fans to experience the seven years at Hogwarts like never before:

“Magic is coming alive as these brilliant actors lift iconic characters off the page and into our ears. Hearing these spellbinding performances in our state-of-the-art studios has been nothing short of extraordinary. We’re overjoyed to share that fans of all ages can now mark their fall calendars for a truly breathtaking experience with Audible and Pottermore Publishing – one that promises to reignite the magic for longtime fans and captivate a whole new generation of listeners.”

Who Is the New Harry Potter?

For Harry Potter: The Full-Cast Audio Editions, Pottermore selected two versions of the protagonist trio: Harry, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. Frankie Treadaway (Matilda The Musical), Max Lester (The Fantastic Four: First Steps), and Arabella Stanton (Starlight Express) will voice Harry, Ron, and Hermione in Philosopher’s Stone, Chamber of Secrets, and Prisoner of Azkaban. From Goblet of Fire onwards, Harry will be voiced by Jaxon Knopf (Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat), Ron will be played by Rhys Mulligan (Matilda the Musical), and Nina Barker-Francis (Wolf King) takes on the role of Hermione.

The rollout of the new audiobook versions will be as described below:
