‘Prodigies’: Sophia Di Martino, Tobias Menzies & More Join Ayo Edebiri, Will Sharpe led New Apple TV+ Rom-Com Series!!

Back in April, Apple TV+ announced they would be making a series called “Prodigies” starring Will Sharpe (“Too Much,” “The White Lotus”) and Ayo Edebiri (“The Bear”). We can now reveal a big casting update for the romantic comedy.

That group of actors includes Andrene Ward-Hammond, Yumi Asō (“Perfect Days”), Tobias Menzies (“F1,” “Game of Thrones”), Sophia Di Martino (“Loki”), Reece Shearsmith, Nabhaan Rizwan, Meera Syal, Lolly Adefope, and previously announced Rina Sawayama, who made her grand acting debut in “John Wick 4” and returns for the spinoff “Caine” directed by Donnie Yen.

An official logline for “Prodigies” courtesy of Apple:

Didi (Edebiri) and Ren (Sharpe) are two ex-child prodigies who have been together since they were children. Now in their early 30s, they are starting to question whether their very ordinary existence is living up to the extraordinary promise of their childhood. Inevitably, they find themselves asking the same questions of their relationship. As individual hopes and needs feed into and conflict with their shared lives, the series challenges the fallacy at the heart of romantic storytelling – that the tale is over when the heroes get together. In life, surely, that is just the beginning?

Sharpe is coming off Lena Dunham‘s Netflix series “Too Much,” led by Megan Stalter, and had a supporting role in “Real Pain,” which saw Kieran Culkin win the Best Supporting Actor Oscar earlier this year.

Ededbiri, of course, is best known for the Emmy-winning restaurant series “The Bear,” with upcoming projects on the horizon such as Luca Guadagnino‘s “After The Hunt” and James L. Brooks“Ella McCay.”

“Prodigies” was created and written by Sharpe, who also serves as an executive producer, alongside Edebiri, Jane Featherstone (“Black Doves,” “Giri/Haji”), Naomi de Pear (“This Is Going to Hurt,” “Flowers”) and Katie Carpenter (“Landscapers,” “Flowers”) for SISTER.
