‘Behemoth!’: Pedro Pascal in Talks to Lead ‘Andor’ Creator Tony Gilroy’s Directorial!!

Tony Gilroy may be about to unite with a fellow Star Wars veteran for his next film. A new report from Deadline revealed that Pedro Pascal, fresh off his turn as Reed Richards in The Fantastic Four: First Steps, is in talks to lead Behemoth! from the writer-director. A deal has not been finalized, though all indications are that there should be no problems bringing the Mandalorian star aboard despite his very busy schedule. Searchlight Pictures recently joined the exciting new project as well, which is ramping up quickly as principal photography aims to begin this fall in Los Angeles.

Plot details are being kept well under wraps at this time, though the director has teased that Behemoth! will follow a cellist. Whatever the case, Gilroy‘s next project will have a lot of eyes on it. The two-time Oscar nominee hasn’t directed anything since 2012’s The Bourne Legacy, though he’s proven to be quite adept, earning both nods for his direction and screenwriting on the 2007 George Clooney legal thriller Michael Clayton. His attention over the past several years has obviously been taken up by Andor, which has been hailed as among the best Star Wars projects ever released and earned even loftier acclaim this year with the premiere of Season 2. One of the show’s producers, Sonne Wohlenberg, will also be joining Gilroy on his film in a similar capacity.

If Pascal‘s deal is finalized, this will also mark a reunion between him and the director nearly a decade in the making. Back in 2016, Gilroy served as a co-writer on the historical epic The Great Wall, which Pascal happened to be starring in, alongside Matt Damon, Tian Jing, and Willem Dafoe. Their paths have woven oh-so-close to each other since then, with the star also being a part of what began as one of the better Star Wars properties in recent memory, with The Mandalorian. The show was part of Pascal‘s breakout into superstardom, alongside other highly acclaimed television turns in The Last of Us, Narcos, and Game of Thrones. After three seasons, his adventures as Din Djarin are far from over, too, as he’s set to lead a new feature-length installment in Jon Favreau‘s The Mandalorian & Grogu coming on May 22, 2026.

‘Behemoth!’ Adds to Pascal’s Packed Slate

This has been a very busy year for Pascal, between welcoming Marvel‘s first family to the MCU, reprising his role as Joel Miller, and starring opposite Dakota Johnson and Chris Evans in Celine Song‘s new rom-com Materialists. Things are not slowing down for the star going forward, though. Aside from the Mandalorian movie, he’s got two big events to look forward to in Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars next year and in 2027. He and the rest of The Fantastic Four will be among the many heroes assembled in the fight against Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom following their tangle with Ralph Ineson‘s Galactus. Exactly what’s in store for Anthony and Joe Russo‘s superheroic team-up films is being closely guarded at this time, and Pascal has been careful not to give away the surprises before the first of the two arrives on December 18, 2026.

Behemoth! will decide on a release plan at a later date.
