Gone are the days of Claire Danes and Matthew Rhys playing spies in shows like Homeland and The Americans. In the upcoming Netflix thriller The Beast In Me, they tackle a different secret together. The streaming platform has set November 13 as the premiere date for the series that reunites Danes with her Homeland boss, Howard Gordon. All eight episodes will be released on that day, allowing viewers to dive into the story fully. In the meantime, images were shared that offer a sneak peek into the events of the show. Intriguing, dark, and bloody, they tease a complicated tale that could take a turn for the worse if the parties involved don’t exercise caution. Below is the show’s official description from Netflix.
Since the tragic death of her young son, acclaimed author Aggie Wiggs (Danes) has receded from public life, unable to write, a ghost of her former self. But she finds an unlikely subject for a new book when the house next door is bought by Nile Sheldon (Rhys), a famed and formidable real estate mogul who was once the prime suspect in his wife’s disappearance. At once horrified and fascinated by this man, Aggie finds herself compulsively hunting for the truth – chasing his demons while fleeing her own – in a game of cat and mouse that might turn deadly.
Who Is Behind ‘The Beast In Me?’
The show was created by Gabe Rotter (The X-Files) with Gordon serving as the showrunner and executive producer. Other cast members include Brittany Snow (The Hunting Wives) as Nina, Nile’s wife, Natalie Morales as Shelley, Aggies ex-wife, David Lyons (ER), Tim Guinee (Homeland), Hettiene Park, Jonathan Banks (Breaking Bad), Deirdre O’Connell, Aleyse Shannon, Will Brill, Kate Burton, Bill Irwin, Amir Arison (The Blacklist), and Julie Ann Emery. Other executive producers are Daniel Pearle (American Crime Story), Antonio Campos, Jodie Foster, Caroline Baron, Conan O’Brien, Jeff Ross, and David Kissinger. Gordon praised the two lead actors, saying:
“I’ve always appreciated Matthew’s work, but seeing him with Claire on our first Zoom made me especially excited that he’s agreed to play Nile. We’re all looking forward to working with him!”
At some point, it seemed like The Beast In Me would never come out, given its long journey to the small screen. However, that journey comes to an end on November 13 when the entire season drops on Netflix.
