The Burrow is about to feel a lot more like home. HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series has officially rounded out the Weasley family, announcing today that Tristan Harland and Gabriel Harland will play Fred and George, Ruari Spooner is stepping in as Percy, and Gracie Cochrane will bring Ginny to life. The reveal couldn’t have been sweeter — the new cast was introduced via a selfie snapped by Alastair Stout, who’s already been announced as Ron Weasley. Fans on social immediately called the casting “perfect,” especially with real-life twins Tristan and Gabriel taking on the roles of Fred and George.
The HBO Original series is set to debut in 2027 on HBO and Max in the U.S., as well as in upcoming international launch markets like Germany, Italy, and the UK. Written and executive produced by Francesca Gardiner (Succession), the series also has Mark Mylod (The Menu) directing multiple episodes. The producing team includes Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling, along with Neil Blair and Ruth Kenley-Letts of Brontë Film and TV, and David Heyman of Heyday Films — the producer behind all eight original movies. With Harry (Dominic McLaughlin), Ron (Stout), and Hermione (Arabella Stanton) already confirmed, today’s news means the Golden Trio now has their full Weasley support system. We just need to get Charlie Weasley involved here. #JusticeForCharlie
Harry Potter is Shooting in London
Production on the series is already well underway, giving fans glimpses of what’s to come. In recent weeks, Londoners spotted Nick Frost (Hagrid) towering over McLaughlin’s Harry outside Borough High Street, where the Leaky Cauldron scenes were filmed. Fans also caught sight of doubles being used for Hagrid, hinting at the scale of the visual effects needed to bring the half-giant to life.
The Weasley casting news adds fuel to the excitement, with speculation mounting about when the Burrow — the family’s beloved magical home — might first appear on screen. If filming continues at its current pace, fans can expect more set photos and sneak peeks in the coming months as the world of Hogwarts slowly comes together. Rounding out the adult cast are John Lithgow as Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Snape, and Janet McTeer as McGonagall.
For now, fans can celebrate knowing that the Weasleys, one of the most beloved families in the franchise, have found their perfect match in HBO’s new generation of young stars. The latest Harry Potter adaptation will premiere on HBO and Max in early 2027.
