What Is ‘The Secret of the Ooze’ About?

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze touched on the lore of the franchise itself. In the sequel, the turtles’ arch-enemy, Shredder (François Chau,) discovers how the mutation of the four brothers took place, which makes him extremely dangerous because he can do whatever he wants with the knowledge he has acquired. The sequel was directed by Michael Pressman, who recently helmed episodes of high-profile series such as Chicago Med and Law & Order.

Fans of TMNT were already prepared to see the Shredder again in 2026. The new 3D-animated version of the franchise, which kicked off with the 2023 movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem, has teased the Shredder as the next villain. However, the movie’s release date got pushed back: it was originally going to premiere on October 9, 2026, but Paramount decided to release the sequel on September 17, 2027, instead.

The 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie will play in theaters for another week. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Ooze will get a re-release in theaters in March 2026.
