‘Devil in Disguise’ Trailer Sees Michael Chernus Become One of History’s Most Notorious Serial Killers!! Check It Out!!

Four years ago, Peacock unveiled one of the best true crime docuseries in recent memory when the streamer dropped John Wayne Gacy: Devil in Disguise. Instead of focusing on the titular killer (as so many projects often do), the six-episode miniseries largely allowed the victims and their loved ones to come forward and tell their story. Now, the platform is set to do it all over again, but this time with a dramatized retelling of the atrocious horrors committed by the man also known as Pogo the Clown. Today, Peacock is unveiling the official trailer for Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy, which sees Severance and Orange is the New Black star, Michael Chernus, take on his most sinister role yet as the man known for brutally killing at least 33 young men and boys decades ago.

From the trailer, it looks like Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy will start at the end with the missing person’s case that got Gacy (Chernus) caught, and work its way back to the beginning. The first few seconds see Gacy’s vehicle parked outside a pharmacy where the victim who would lead to his capture — Robert Piest (Ryker Baloun) — worked. We see the young man getting into Gacy’s car in hopes of landing a job with the man’s construction company before all hell breaks loose. As the trailer plays out, the Piest family presses law enforcement for answers, which leads the police to uncover the vast graveyard that Gacy had been keeping in a crawl space under his home. But the bodies are just the beginning of the horror when the case moves to trial and more of the truth comes out.

Meet the Team Behind ‘Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy’

Joining Chernus in leading the latest dramatized true crime project is a supporting lineup that also includes Gabriel Luna (The Last of Us), James Badge Dale (Savant), Michael Angarano (Oppenheimer), Chris Sullivan (This Is Us), and Marin Ireland (The Irishman). The title hails from writer, showrunner, and executive producer Patrick Macmanus, who has plenty of experience in the genre thanks to his previous work unraveling the real story behind Hulu’s The Girl from Plainville.

You can check out the debut trailer for Devil in Disguise: John Wayne Gacy above and gather a better understanding of how the community leader and father were able to fly under the radar of law enforcement for so long when the eight-episode miniseries arrives on Peacock on Thursday, October 16.
