‘Avengers: Doomsday’: Dafne Keen Is Unsure of Return in MCU Event Film!!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe is quite vast, which means there are several angles and characters from which stories can be told. An expansion to the MCU‘s Avengers franchise has not materialized since Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Marvel is intent on changing that narrative soon, with the addition of two Avengers movies in Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Both will help wrap the Multiverse Saga of the MCU. Doomsday comes first, with a release date of late 2026 already set as fans look ahead to the return of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. However, a major MCU star has yet to hear if she will be back for the upcoming movie.

The cast slate for Avengers: Doomsday is already packed full of several returning actors, with the likes of Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson) all billed for returns. There are also suggestions of appearances from Ryan Reynolds and Chris Evans. Now a certain star has addressed her Avengers: Doomsday status. While attending FAN EXPO Canada, Marvel star Dafne Keen spoke with ScreenRant concerning whether she could be back for Avengers: Doomsday. According to the actress who expertly plays X-23, she isn’t clear about whether her character will be appearing in the next movie. Following the introduction of two mutants to the MCU in Deadpool & Wolverine — which was a box office hit — and how it ended, it makes Keen‘s return as X-23 plausible. Quizzed on her potential return in Doomsday, Keen responded, “I actually have no idea, like, legitimately, I swear to you… I literally, right now, I have no idea. I’ve not heard.

What Dafne Keen’s Comments Mean for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

By the time Deadpool & Wolverine ended, Reynolds’ Deadpool, Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine, and Keen’s Laura were together at Wade Wilson’s apartment. Should the suggestions prove true and Reynolds’ Deadpool features in Doomsday, having Wolverine and X-23 by his side to help would make sense. Keen has previously stated her clear intent to return to Laura and her comments regarding not knowing whether her character features might just all be a way of remaining in Marvel‘s good books, as the studio is famed for plugging leaks regarding its upcoming projects. However, should Keen‘s Laura fail to appear in Doomsday, there is always the possibility of featuring in Avengers: Secret Wars.

The Russo brothers, who directed Infinity War and Endgame, will be returning to direct Avengers: Doomsday, which will feature a casting twist with Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom. Besides the aforementioned Hemsworth and Mackie, the confirmed Doomsday cast includes Tom Hiddleston, along with the New Avengers aka Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Lewis Pullman, Wyatt Russell, and David Harbour. The Wakandans in Letitia Wright and Winston Duke, the Sub-Mariner in Tenoch Huerta Mejía, the OG X-Men, including Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romjin, Kelsey Grammer, James Marsden, and The Fantastic Four: First StepsVanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Joseph Quinn, and Pedro Pascal among others.
