‘Ice Age: Boiling Point’: ‘Ice Age 6’ Gets a New Title and Release Date!!

Disney has officially unveiled the next chapter in its prehistoric franchise with Ice Age: Boiling Point and the first teaser is now out. The announcement was made at Destination D23 in November last year, and the movie was initially expected to hit theaters in 2026. However, as per the new announcement, Ice Age 6 is all set to hit theaters on February 5, 2027, marking the sixth installment in the beloved animated series.

The movie promises to take Manny (Ray Romano), Sid (John Leguizamo) and Diego (Denis Leary), and the rest of the herd into uncharted corners of the perilous Lost World, blending the icy landscapes fans know, likely with fiery new dangers and Sid’s signature goofy recklessness, one that will push the saga to a dramatic new high. The Ice Age franchise has a critics’ score of 76% and an audience score of 82% on Rotten Tomatoes, making it one of those animated franchises that sit on the same terms with both audiences and critics.

The first teaser dramatically and ironically starts in Ice Age’s signature frosty themes, but owing to the fun title of the sixth installment, the Ice Age: Boiling Point title shows up immediately, and that’s exactly the statement-maker for now. Since the trailer does not yet show any first look at the characters, and the release date is far ahead in 2027, it likely means that the production and animation are still in their early phases.

John Leguizamo Has Called ‘Ice Age 6’ a Sentimental Journey for Generations of Fans

In a recent interview with Collider’s Aidan Kelley, Leguizamoopened up about why he chose to return as Sid the sloth in Ice Age 6. For Leguizamo, the franchise has become more than just an animated adventure — it’s a family tradition that spans decades.

People have grown up with the whole series, and it’s sort of a milestone in children’s lives,” he shared, noting that audiences now include grandparents, parents, and grandchildren all enjoying the films together. He described the experience as a “sentimental journey,” one that allows him to reconnect with longtime co-stars Ray Romano and Denis Leary. The actor also went on to promise plenty of comedy, heart, and action in the upcoming installment. Leguizamo further hinted that the new installment will strike a balance between nostalgia and fresh laughs, cementing the series’ legacy as a multigenerational favorite.
